Bus and light rail

Valley Metro provides bus and light rail services throughout the Phoenix metropolitan area. There is at least one Valley Metro bus stop at each of the four ASU campuses, and light rail stops — with service to Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport — on the ASU Downtown Phoenix and Tempe campuses. Allow for 35 minutes of travel on the light rail between the Downtown Phoenix and Tempe campuses.

ASU students, faculty and staff may ride Valley Metro buses and light rail at discounted rates by purchasing an ASU transit pass.

Select communities also receive shuttle service through neighborhood circulations, such as Mesa Downtown BUZZ and Tempe's Orbit.

The Valley Metro Streetcar is available for those commuting to the Tempe campus.

Free emergency ride home

If you have an emergency and need a ride, Parking and Transportation Services is here to help.

Call PTS dispatch at 480-965-6124 any day the university is open and ask for our emergency ride-home service. All transit pass holders can get up to two free rides home each permit year. After PTS verifies your permit, we will arrange for a ride home using Uber.

High Occupancy Vehicles — HOV and Rideshare

Save time and money while supporting ASU's sustainable goals when you use a Valley Metro HOV service.

These options allow commuters to save time and money, reduce stress and vehicle wear and use the HOV lanes. Find a rideshare partner or an empty seat in a vanpool vehicle by visiting the Share the Ride webpage

As part of PTS' free emergency ride home program, Sun Devils that need a ride home may stop by any PTS office location from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. to pick up a free Valley Metro one-day pass. This pass is good for Valley Metro bus and light rail services.
