Aura Blockchain Consortium was established by leading luxury players LVMH, OTB Group, Prada Group and Cartier, part of Richemont. The luxury groups have joined forces to address the shared challenges of communicating authenticity, responsible sourcing and sustainability in a secure digital format. Aura Blockchain Consortium is a non-profit association based in Switzerland with the purpose to promote socially responsible, sustainable, and customer-centric business practices throughout the lifecycle of luxury products by leveraging blockchain and other technologies. By promoting the use of a single global blockchain platform open to luxury brands of all sectors worldwide, the platform provides consumers with additional information, services, transparency and raises the customer experience to a new level.

      We are delighted to officially welcome MCM to our Consortium as they launch their first Digital Product Passport (DPP) for the new MCM x Harper Collective.     This initiative reinforces MCM's commitment to innovation and sets new standards for trust and transparency in the luxury industry. Each piece in the collection comes with a Digital Product Passport, enabled through Aura Blockchain Consortium’s platform.    Customers can access the DPP by scanning the NFC chip located just above the metal plaque on the front of the suitcase, provided by our partner Temera.     Aura Blockchain Consortium welcomes the EU’s latest step towards the introduction of the Digital Product Passport (DPP). On Friday, the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR) was published in the Official Journal of the European Union. With this step, the ESPR enters into force on 18th July 2024. The ESPR will permit the European Commission to implement, through Delegated Acts, a range of design and reporting requirements for various products sold in the European market. The publication also includes the EU’s definition of a DPP, and what the priority products will be – including textiles, garments, footwear, furniture, tyres, and more. The first Delegated Acts are expected to be introduced by 2026. Companies should then have 18 months to comply with these requirements, but we would stress that the moment to begin preparing for these regulations has already begun. At Aura Blockchain Consortium, we are dedicated to supporting our members as they navigate the evolving regulatory landscape – but firmly believe that regulatory compliance is only the first step for the transformative potential of DPPs. Our approach fosters the most holistic relationship between product and customer, throughout the entire lifecycle, looking beyond regulatory compliance on authenticity, circularity and traceability to create new value for luxury consumers with offers, benefits, storytelling and more.
