Body Composition May Predict Post-Surgery Challenges in Bile Duct Cancer A new study suggests body composition could be a factor in how well patients recover from surgery for perihilar cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct cancer). Researchers found a link between obesity, muscle loss (sarcopenia), and fat infiltration in muscle (myosteatosis) with a higher risk of complications after surgery. This is important because complications can significantly impact a patient's overall prognosis.
