The meticulously restored Kimpton BEM Budapest is a stunning addition to IHG’s luxury portfolio. Located on the Buda side of the Danube River, this boutique hotel sits within a 19th-century mansion, offering guests a luxurious stay infused with local culture and folklore. The remodel is courtesy of Marcel Wanders, a visionary designer renowned for his imaginative and unconventional approach. The hotel design captures the essence of Hungarian folklore, weaving whimsical elements into the historical fabric of the building. The interiors are a blend of modern elegance and playful design, with patterns inspired by Hungarian mythology and flora, such as poppies and tulips, set against a backdrop of cool colours and striking architectural details. LAUFEN has a long-standing and rich history of collaboration with Marcel Wanders. Beyond this project, LAUFEN has worked on prestigious hospitality design projects with the Wanders team, including the acclaimed Mondrian Doha, Qatar. The partnership also led to the creation of The New Classic for LAUFEN, a complete bathroom collection that redefines contemporary design, setting a new standard for timeless elegance in modern washrooms. At Kimpton BEM Budapest, Marcel Wanders' enchanting design vision extends into every bathroom space, where The New Classic washbasin, along with the LUA wall-hung pan and freestanding bathtub, bring sophistication to private guest rooms and suites. Public washrooms are equally refined, featuring LAUFEN’s innovative Lema waterless urinal and Cinto urinal divider, all seamlessly integrated to embody the hotel’s blend of history and modern luxury. As the starting line for the Louis Vuitton Cup fast approaches, we begin our countdown for the official start of the 37th America's Cup. LAUFEN’s new MEDA Silent Flush technology minimises noise for the sake of family and neighbours. Admittedly, the sound of flushing may not be one of the most important decision criteria. However, after design, comfort, hygiene and durability, it is indicative of the quality of the toilet. LAUFEN has devised a way to significantly reduce flushing noise, ensuring even more discretion and quiet nighttime trips to the bathroom. The innovative technology flushes the water powerfully yet quietly in a spiral through the toilet bowl. Water consumption is reduced and bathroom hygiene improved. The dynamic water vortex flushes the toilet perfectly clean with as little water as possible. To create the necessary swirl of water, the interior of the rimless toilet is specially shaped to direct the water along a perfectly optimised spiral path. After a 15 year hiatus, ARBR will be competing in this year’s America’s Cup, a fiercely contested sailing competition that attracts a global audience of millions. Oliver Leech Architects designed Butterfly House, a new compact home that supports multigenerational living. This future-proofed home enables a family member to reside within the plot of an existing family home. Positioned in the southern tip of the main house’s garden, the new structure occupies a small triangular corner, constrained on two sides. The interior gives way to large open-plan living spaces, while the exterior is wrapped in burnt Japanese timber cladding that seamlessly integrates with the surrounding trees. The spaces are unified through a restrained material palette, featuring polished concrete floors and pale clay plaster walls, which tie the spaces together and highlight the ceiling structure. In contrast to the dark exterior, the interior finishes evoke a muted, calm mood, serving as a backdrop to the warm, rich tones of the larch and oak joinery. Material simplicity extends into the two bathrooms, each illuminated by openable Velux skylights. Mirrors reflect the greenery outside, enhancing the interior’s connection to nature. The inclusion of the Val washbasin and Pro WC adds an understated elegance to the bathroom design. Popular with architects and designers across the world, the Val collection, designed by Konstantin Grcic, features simple architectural lines, extremely narrow edges with fine surface structures and includes washbasins, WCs, trays, and bathtubs. With the conclusion of the Paris Olympic Games, we would like to take the opportunity to say what an honour it has been to be at Maison Suisse at the Swiss Embassy in France. LAUFEN provided restrooms and bathrooms for the House of Switzerland featuring Kartell • LAUFEN.
