The event brought together 39 participants across 18 countries 🌍, including patient organisation leaders, advocates and clinicians from the heart team. This training day provided attendees with the tools to better support their #heartvalvedisease communities by broadening their knowledge of heart anatomy; the nature and types of HVD; treatment options and innovations, as well as an insight into treatment guidelines and the importance of shared decision making. Cardiomyopathy arises from various causes, and sometimes the cause isn’t known. It can be hereditary, passed down through families, with a child of an affected parent having a 50% likelihood of inheriting it. Alternatively, it may develop over time in one’s life, often triggered by another heart condition, underlying health issue, or external factors: ❤️🩹Damage from a heart attack 🫀 Heart valve disease 💓Long-term tachycardia or fast heart rhythm 🩺 Diabetes, thyroid disease, or other metabolic disorders 💥Heart inflammation (endocarditis, myocarditis, pericarditis) 💔 Diseases causing substance buildup in the heart (amyloidosis, sarcoidosis, hemochromatosis) 💉Cancer treatments (chemotherapy, radiation) 🦠Infections like COVID-19, viral hepatitis, or HIV ⚖️Obesity 🪢 Connective tissue disorders 🤰Pregnancy complications 🍺 Use of alcohol, cocaine, or amphetamines Visit our website 👇 to learn more about #cardiomyopathy and its causes: https://lnkd.in/ebPuC7mp #CardiomyopathyAwareness #MendedHeartsEurope #HeartSupport
