Today, as the world cheers for the athletes at the Paris Olympics, we also mark Earth Overshoot Day 🌍⬇️ This means we have already used up the Earth's natural resources for the year. For the remainder of 2024, we will use resources that our planet can’t naturally regenerate. Just as Olympians push the limits of human potential in their competitions, we need to strive to win the most crucial race of all – the race to end global overshoot. As this year’s Earth Overshoot Day falls on August 1, we are far from crossing the finish line. This race is one we all need to participate in. Along with governments, companies, and non-profits around the world, we must work to limit the man-made footprint on nature and reduce the strain on Earth's resources. As the Paris Olympics kick off this month, the city is not only gearing up for sports but also for climate resilience 🌍✨ Our study looks into the city's risks and solutions for addressing overheating, floods, water scarcity, and improving biodiversity. It reveals that the majority of major risks that were previously expected by 2050 are now expected to impact Paris by as early as 2030. Varje år tar Ramboll emot studenter som gör praktik eller skriver sina ex-jobb hos oss. Abdirahman Mohamed studerar sista året på Sustainable Urban Planning and Design, ett masterprogram på Kungliga Tekniska högskolan. Den här terminen har Abdirahman skrivit sin masteruppsats på Ramboll. – Efter att ha haft kontakt med Ramboll under min studietid så har jag haft möjligheten att bekanta mig med deras arbete och verksamhet. Ramboll bedriver innovativt arbete inom stadsplanering och jag såg det som en möjlighet att dels kunna bidra med mina egna idéer, dels att få handledning och ta del av erfarenhet från experter inom branschen, säger han. Abdi har skrivit sitt examensarbete om barnkonsekvensanalyser och fått stöttning av Emma Henning och Namo Marouf på Ramboll. – Att ta emot ex-jobbare är ett bra sätt för oss att lära känna unga människor som är på väg ut i branschen, bygga kunskap tillsammans och utöka vårt nätverk. Naturligtvis hoppas vi också att de trivs hos oss och kanske hittar tillbaka till Ramboll i sitt framtida yrkesliv, säger Emma Henning. Ramboll har också ett program för praktikanter. The production of both concrete and steel is responsible for around 4.9 billion tonnes of CO2 – that’s 15% of total global emissions 📈🌍 Despite these figures, progress for lower emission alternatives has been slow. But market momentum is building, and a strong demand signal from users could be the catalyst needed to drive a revolution in sustainable construction materials. That’s why we’ve teamed up with Climate Group to create this survey so we can hear from heavy consumers of steel and concrete such as the real estate, infrastructure, and energy sectors.
