When deploying AI, what do we have to lose? and what do we have to gain? Both the opportunities and the anxieties around #AI have helped to sharpen our understanding of the need for good technology governance, as well as how to build leadership support for #technologygovernance and #digitaltrust programs. Great article here by Heather Domin, PhD and co-authors in the California Management Review that will be very useful to anyone trying to improve technology governance. It covers the "growing business case for implementing AI with the appropriate level of governance to ensure ethical development, deployment, and use." With attention both the standard loss-aversion arguments as well as potentially more effective value generation arguments for good AI and technology governance. Dark Patterns: Manipulation im digitalen Design Der Bundesrat hat kürzlich einen wichtigen Bericht in Erfüllung eines Postulats von Sophie Michaud Gigon zur Dokumentation und Analyse von Dark Patterns veröffentlicht. ➡️ Was sind Dark Patterns? Dark Patterns sind bewusste Designentscheidungen in digitalen Oberflächen, die Nutzende manipulieren. Sie nutzen psychologische Schwächen aus, um unerwünschte Handlungen zu fördern. ➡️ Rechtliche Rahmenbedingungen In der Schweiz werden viele Dark Patterns bereits durch bestehende Gesetze wie das UWG und das DSG erfasst. Der Bericht sieht derzeit keinen unmittelbaren Handlungsbedarf, empfiehlt jedoch, internationale Entwicklungen weiterhin zu beobachten. ➡️ Beispiele für Dark Patterns ◾ Voreinstellungen: Standardoptionen, die nicht im Interesse der Nutzenden sind. ◾ Graphische Hervorhebungen: Farbige Buttons lenken die Aufmerksamkeit. ◾ Missverständliche Formulierungen: Komplizierte Sprache, die verwirrt. ◾ Lockangebote: Nutzer werden zu ungewollten Handlungen verleitet. ◾ Getarnte Werbung: Werbung, die nicht sofort als solche erkennbar ist. Dark Patterns sind ein wachsendes Problem im digitalen Raum.
