Thank you for joining us at Startup Days last week! 🌟 During the event, Damian Janzi and Max Vogt gave an insightful presentation on AI for startups, sharing the latest developments and practical applications. In case you missed it, here are some key takeaways:
On value creation in Generative AI:
“Right now, we see most of the value being created for companies at the hardware level. The further up you go the value chain (i.e., cloud platforms, foundation models, apps, etc.) the less value is being captured. The main beneficiaries of the Gen-AI revolution are, however, the end users, which have access to tools that unlock never-before-seen levels of productivity for only ~USD 10/month (in the example of Github Co-pilot). On the other side, the monthly cost per user just to run inference is estimated to be around ~USD 5.”
On moats:
“Having defensible moats in mind, not just for today or tomorrow but for the years ahead, remains crucial. What were exciting Gen-AI start-ups just a year ago have been made redundant with an ever-increasing tool suite released by the major Gen-AI companies. Whether it is your proprietary data, unique distribution channels, or a niche market, make sure you are in a future-proof position.”
On thinking holistically from your customers’ perspective:
“Don’t just build great technology, build a fantastic product that seamlessly integrates into your customers workflow without them having to adapt to you. Going the extra mile to understand your customers pain points, building a product suite around your AI value proposition, and focusing on non-software things like customer support & branding will create that extra level of stickiness that you need.”
On communicating your message clearly to VCs:
“When preparing your pitch for VCs, make sure that your story touches on how you manage to capture a significant share of the value that you create, and how you can build something that will still be relevant in 5-7 years.”
Events like these are invaluable for fostering collaboration and driving the startup ecosystem forward. If you missed this opportunity, stay connected to our social media to hear about our participation in future events.
