Last week, I attended KMU Symposium organized by KMU SWISS, a really insightful event that raised the profound question: "Will AI lead to a better world - or is it merely a Game Changer?" The Symposium was a vibrant forum that showcased the immense potential and the multifaceted effects AI is already having and what we can anticipate in the future. Speakers like DALITH Steiger-Gablinger💃🏻Hugo Bigi, who did it all, moderating, presenting and singing!, Jörg Eugster, Matthias Mölleney Sabrina Schenardi provided riveting insights into AI's impact across various sectors. I personally reflected quite a bit about the thematic question of the Symposium. To me, AI doesn’t just fit into the category of being a "Game Changer"—it is THE game changer. In my dual roles as CEO of Triple Eight Solutions AG and President & MD of the Chamber of Commerce Switzerland Central Europe (SEC), I see firsthand how AI redefines productivity, innovation, and also cross-border collaboration, reinforcing our commitment to leveraging AI for enhancing business development and internationalization strategies. This conviction aligns with Triple Eight Solutions AG focus on AI & Productivity Consulting, where we see nothing but enthusiasm by the companies we work with. The sheer number of the existing research on AI productivity increase (e.g 37% by MIT) are mind bubbling. Despite the enthusiasm and innovative examples shared, I observed a prevailing sentiment of caution among the 400+ attendees, a reflection of the broader hesitation towards rapid technological adoption. This was quite a surprise but underlines that AI-implementation in Swiss SMEs will be long process and will start with dialogue, education and, hands-on experiences to demystify AI and showcase its practical benefits — a mission that we at T8S are deeply committed to.
