The unboxing of the Waltham A17NG, the successor of the A17. The A17 equipped the USAF F-86 Sabre pilots during the Korean War. The A17 production began in 1950, following a federal tender for the US Air Force in 1949 (MIL-W-6433) won by Waltham. This very appreciated model by pilots had the initial vocation to equip the crews of long range bombers based in Europe and Asia. Three years ago today me, Waltham Watches and Watch Angels were literally down in the trenches filming the video for the NEW Waltham "Field & Marine" Watches. The incredibly nice folks over at the Museum of the American G.I. in College Station Texas allowed us to use their trench warfare battlefield for the video. VERY realistic setting, the trenches were filled with mud and cold water, just like our men had to endure. Pictured is the original USAF 1951 Waltham Type A-17 Pilot's Watch with the NEW Swiss made Waltham Type A-17 Pilot's Watch. American USAF Pilot Colonel Jabara took down the MiG-15 with his F-86 Saber in the first jet power vs jet power aerial combat dogfight over "MiG Alley" in April of 1951.
