🎉 WintiSpeakers Summer Party Recap! 🎉 What a fantastic time we had at our WintiSpeakers Summer Party! This meeting was all about spontaneity and fun, with no prepared speeches—just thrilling Table Topics. 🌞🎤 🗳️ **Debate Extravaganza**: We broke our usual rule and dived into political debates, but with a twist! Participants had to take extreme left or right positions and run for president in their home countries. The arguments were outlandish, the debates were hilarious, and the creativity was off the charts! 😆 💡 **Pro Tip from Evaluator Mark**: Want to improve your public speaking? Mark shared a secret tip: focus on pausing deliberately rather than trying to prevent "ah" and "em". It's easier to prime yourself to do something consciously than to avoid doing something subconsciously. What an evening! Our recent gathering was filled with laughter, popsicles, and unforgettable moments. 🌞🍦 🌟 Nico kicked things off as our stellar Toastmaster of the evening, guiding us through a fun-filled agenda. 🍭 Carlos saved the day with popsicles for everyone, perfect for cooling down on a hot day! 🎤 Speech Highlights: 1. Sarah shared a captivating tale about her trip to the USA, with a twist – a suitcase stolen on a train in Zürich and heroically recovered by the police. Her speech titled "Big Brother is Watching" had us all on the edge of our seats. 2. Sita encouraged us all to "Be Spontaneous" with her infectious smile and much-improved nonverbal communication skills. The feel-good princess truly delighted the audience! 🗣️ Table Topics Shenanigans: Our imaginative Table Topics Master, Max, had everyone on their toes, role-playing scenarios from applying for a job to hiring unusual candidates: - Shady mall Santa 🎅 - CEO of Facebook on booze 🍻 - Professional clapper/cheerleader 👏 - Swiss chocolate taster 🍫 We even recruited superheroes with less-than-super powers like Janitor Man, Laundry Man, and Secretary Man. The highlight? Our new president, Jack, winning the table topics by convincing us (more or less successfully) to become mosquito repellent testers! 🦟 🏆 Awards: - Best Speaker: Sarah - Best Evaluator: Kai, for his insightful evaluation of Sota's speech. Every meeting reminds us why we love being part of WintiSpeakers. 🌟 WintiSpeakers Toastmasters Club - AGM Extravaganza! 🌟 Our latest meeting at the Home of Innovation was nothing short of legendary! With a rooftop terrace, refreshing drinks, and mouthwatering plums, we kicked off our annual general meeting in style. 🎤 Speeches that Sparkled: - Nico whisked us away to Japan, where he shared tales of capybara cafes and surprisingly gourmet 7-Eleven fare. - Krishna enlightened us with a deep dive into leadership styles, clinching the Best Speech Award with his insightful anecdotes. - Carlos turned the heat up with thought-provoking table topics. From life's purpose (thanks, Anna) to the mysteries of death (take a bow, Dominik), and the age-old question of free will (Lena, you're a philosopher in disguise!), to the nature of thought itself (Sita, mind-blown). But it was Jacub who stole the show by tackling the ultimate enigma: "What is reality?" Bravo! ⏱️ Time Flies When You're Having Fun: Our timer, Lena, had to get creative without colored flags. Channeling her inner mixologist, she used red, orange, and green energy drink cans to keep us on track. 🍹 Cheers to innovation! And the highlight of the evening? 🌟🎉 This week at WintiSpeakers Toastmasters Club Winterthur, we had a meeting that was jam-packed with energy, inspiration, and laughter! 😄✨ Our club's mission of practicing public speaking, enhancing English skills, and having a blast was definitely accomplished! Let me share the exciting highlights from our May 28th meeting: 🗣️ Frank, our fearless speaker, took the stage and delivered the club's FIRST-EVER 18-22 minutes keynote speech! 🙌🎤 His topic? The Guantanamera principle, which taught us that inspiration is everywhere. Frank didn't stop there - he had us all on our feet, chanting the famous song! Talk about an engaging presenter! 🔥 But wait, the surprises didn't end there! Second-time guest José fearlessly volunteered to jump in and speak on the fly when we realized we didn't have a second speech scheduled. 😱🎙️ Talk about spontaneous bravery! José shared his insights on the 7 layers of innovation, leaving us all inspired and amazed. 🌟 Our very own Max, our Toastmaster for the evening, didn't just keep the ship sailing smoothly; he also stepped up as a speech evaluator, providing fantastic feedback to José. Talk about multitasking at its finest! 💪🎉 ⏰ Despite all the excitement, Max expertly managed the time, making sure we didn't go too far off track. Cheers to you, Max, for keeping us all entertained and engaged throughout the evening! 🎊🕺 💼 Sita, our table topics master for the first time, brought a bag of randomness that had us selling things like true marketing maestros. We had Jack's brilliant strategy of making us want the item before we even need it, earning him the title of table topics champion! And let's not forget Frank, who sold us a pack of tissues, promising our best love night ever using them as mint-scented love letters. 😂💌 🎁 In another surprising twist, newcomer José showcased his sales prowess by offering us shoelaces that once belonged to Michael Jackson and had even been to space! Talk about unique merchandise! And, to top it all off, Sita, the "receiver of the orange," brought back the infamous orange for sale. What a treat for the senses! 🍊💰 📅 Our next meeting is happening on June 11th at Swissmem in Winterthur. It's an event you won't want to miss! 🎉 Another vibrant evening at Wintispeakers Toastmasters! Last week, we had the pleasure of listening to two captivating speeches. Manuela enlightened us on different communication styles, offering valuable insights into how we can better connect with others. Meanwhile, Ruud from the Netherlands shared his fascinating experiences with home sharing, sparking plenty of laughter and thoughtful reflections. 🔍 Our Table Topics session took a quirky turn with a focus on strange but real laws from around the world. Participants had to defend these bizarre regulations in front of a jury, making for an entertaining and highly interactive segment. Who knew defending the weird could be so much fun? 👏 Special thanks to everyone who contributed to making this meeting a success.
