🚆✨ Nous avons eu le plaisir de coorganiser hier une conférence exceptionnelle au siège des SBB CFF FFS à Berne, en présence de Martin Vetterli, président de l'EPFL, et de Vincent Ducrot, directeur général des CFF et diplômé de l’Ecole. L’évènement a rassemblé une centaine de personnes. Depuis 2019, les CFF disposent d’une cellule d’innovation sur le campus EPFL. La conférence fut l’occasion d’évoquer les nombreux projets de collaboration que celle-ci facilite, tant sur l’optimisation des horaires que l’amélioration des matériaux et la résilience des réseaux ferroviaires, ou encore la promotion des énergies vertes et la digitalisation. La conférence fut également l’occasion d’évoquer les défis de recrutement d’ingénieurs spécialisés pour les CFF, ou encore l’importance cruciale du financement, tant pour les CFF que pour l’EPFL. Last week, #KNOVA hosted its monthly Sprint, and it was packed with insightful events and networking opportunities! DAY 1 - We kicked off the sprint with a #ThinkAfterwork on "Innovation Management, Collaboration, and Culture: Putting Them All Together to Drive Business Growth," presented by Simone Arizzi, CEO, #WembraneX . The session was followed by an apero, where attendees had the opportunity to share their experience. DAY 2 - We embarked on the KNOVA #TechRoadshow in Sion, a full day of learning and exploration: 🏫 We started with a presentation on the EPFL Campus associate and Campus Energypolis SA by Vincent Hiroz, Operational Director, Valais Wallis Campus, showcasing the innovative projects and opportunities at the campus. 🔬 The morning continued with lab visits, providing deep dives into cutting-edge research with Prof. Kumar Varoon Agrawal, Prof. Francois Marechal, Prof. Andreas Züttel and Prof. Jan Van Herle 🌟 In the afternoon, we had a presentation of the Fondation The Ark, led by its director Paul-André Vogel, who discussed the foundation's role in fostering innovation and supporting startups. 🔍 Following this, we had an in-depth presentation of HES-SO Valais Wallis, including a tour of their labs. Gaetan Cherix, Director HEI - HES-SO Valais Wallis, and Sergio Schmid, Head of the Institute of Life Sciences, guided us through: GridLab + BEMS | Prof. Fabrizio Sossan, Prof. Julien Pouget Molecular Biology Laboratory | Prof. Alexandre Kuhn DAY 3 - On the final day of the sprint, members had a private visit to the EPFL Additive Manufacturing Workshop (3D Printing), exploring the incredible possibilities available at EPFL, thanks to Manuel Leitos. 🤖 We continued the afternoon with a presentation on the newly opened EPFL AI Center. Scarlet Schwiderski-Grosche, Executive Director, provided a great insight into this strategic initiative and its plan for the future. 💼 We concluded the day with a comprehensive presentation on the #research and #funding possibilities available to our members, covering programs like Alliance, Innosuisse, and Euresearch. Thanks to our experts Pascale Van Landuyt, Irina Sakharova Quitt, Eva Servoli, and Philippe Nasch for sharing their valuable knowledge. Thank you to everyone who participated and made this sprint a success and the Switzerland Innovation Park West EPFL for co-organizing the Tech Roadshow!
