In 2018, the global primary school completion rate was nearly 85%. In Malawi, only 33% of children completed primary education. Do you know which developing country is about to become one of the first to make edtech platforms available to every child in primary school? It's Malawi, a landlocked African nation with a GDP per capita of less than $700 a year. Our UBS Optimus Foundation partner Imagine Worldwide provides students with tablet-based learning, personalizing content to meet the proficiency level of each child, resulting in 50% more children meeting reading benchmarks and 70% of children reaching expected maths levels after just 13 months. It was great to hear more about Imagine’s scale up journey from Joe and Rapelang, the organization’s Co-CEOs, from their initial pilot programs to partnering with the Government of Malawi for a countrywide rollout to expanding across the greater region.
