This year, on October 9th, stakeholders and thought leaders from across UC will be gathering in the Pacific Ballroom at the UCI Student Center for the 15th UC Cyber Security Summit.

Topics this year will include: trends in the evolving landscape of cybersecurity challenges, safeguarding information amidst the proliferation of AI, and the ethical use of AI and machine learning. Scheduled to speak: Tom Andriola from UC Irvine, Mike Bruemmer of Experian, Demetrios Lazarikos (Laz) of Rally Ventures, and Diya Wynn of Amazon. 
 
In addition to valuable insights from our speakers, this all-day event provides a fantastic networking opportunity with others at the University of California, California State University, and California community colleges.

Diya Wynn  
Diya Wynn is the Senior Practice Manager for Responsible AI at Amazon Web Services, overseeing a global team dedicated to helping customers operationalize standards for ethical AI and machine learning.  

Tom Andriola 
Tom Andriola is UC Irvine’s Vice Chancellor for Information Technology and Data (ODIT) and Chief Digital Officer. His role is designed to ensure the strategic use of data and technology, drive interdisciplinary partnerships, and champion digital strategies that expand UC Irvine’s role as a leading research university, healthcare provider & community partner.  

Michael Brummer 
Michael Bruemmer is Vice President of the Experian Data Breach Resolution group and Consumer Protection at Experian. Bruemmer is a respected speaker and presents to industry organizations across the country on the topic of data breaches and provides insight to many trade and business media outlets including Dark Reading, IT Business, CIO, Info Security, Security Week, Health IT Security, Wall Street Journal, American Banker and others.  

Demetrios Lazarikos (Laz) 
Demetrios Lazarikos, known as Laz, is a seasoned expert in cybersecurity, risk management, and data analytics with extensive experience across various industries. A Boardroom Certified Qualified Technology Expert, he offers deep insights into technology and cybersecurity trends. Laz’s background includes roles as CISO at several companies, including vArmour and Sears, and he is a twice-decorated USAF veteran, inventor, and adjunct professor at Pepperdine and Chapman Universities.

Gabe Perez
Gabe Perez is a Systems Engineering leader at Fortinet. He has over 25 years of industry experience in IT networking, cyber security, and datacenter design and implementation. Mr. Perez has deep industry expertise around cyber security, Managed Security Service Provider’s (MSSP), multi-tenant datacenters, complex IT networks, and infrastructure management solutions.

Please note that this year C3 is charging a nominal event fee to assist in covering the various expenses associated with organizing the summit. To stay true to the original intent of the summit, which is to host a relatively small event that promotes networking, they are introducing this registration fee to help offset the many costs it requires to put this very worthwhile conference together.
