Google Cloud Alternative Transfer Solution

This page provides information for Google Cloud Platform, Google Workspace, Cloud Identity, Looker (original), SecOps Services and other Google Cloud customers, partners and subprocessors about whether Google has adopted (or ceased to adopt) an Alternative Transfer Solution.

Capitalized terms used but not defined on this page have the meanings given in the Cloud Data Processing Addendum (Customers), Cloud Data Processing Addendum (Partners), Subprocessor Data Protection Addendum or other Google Cloud agreement, as applicable.

This page does not reduce any of Google’s obligations under any addendum or agreement.

Relevant Law	Status	Details
EU GDPR	As of September 1, 2023, Google has adopted an Alternative Transfer Solution for transfers of EU/EEA personal data to, and onwards from, the U.S.	Following adoption of this adequacy decision by the European Commission, Google LLC has certified to the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and will be responsible for complying with (inter alia) the onward transfer principle of that framework.
EU GDPR	Google reserves the right to adopt Article 49(1) of the EU GDPR as an Alternative Transfer Solution for transfers of EU/EEA personal data to third countries other than the U.S.	In exceptional situations involving a risk of death or serious physical harm to an individual, Google may rely on Article 49(1) without further notice.
EU GDPR	Google has not adopted an Alternative Transfer Solution for any other transfers of EU/EEA personal data	Not applicable
