Role Title: Global Senior Business Development Manager

Role Function and Group: Energy Applications - Industry & Infrastructure and Enabling Electrification

Position Summary:

As part of Infineum transformation from the leading automotive lubricants additives company to a world-class sustainable specialty chemicals company, this transformational role is a new critical global position focused on driving diversified growth within the “Industry & Infrastructure” (I&I) and “Enabling Electrification” (ENEL) Strategic Business Units (SBUs) at Infineum.

The mission of the two SBUs is to deliver diversified top line growth building on adjacencies from the core businesses of fuel additives and driveline lubricant additives and scaling up new commercial-ready businesses derived from the New Business Development (NBD) innovation funnel.

The position is for a Business Development Manager in the Energy Applications tower, reporting to the SBU Director and heading a team tasked to develop and convert prospect customers in selected new for Infineum markets such as gear oils, electrified mobility, batteries, mining, marine fuel additives, crude transportation and refining, magneto rheological fluids.

Key Outputs: What we can expect from you

  • Global business development focused on diversified growth within the SBU adjacencies and NBD derived new area
  • Delivery of 5% year on year earnings growth within the SBU
  • Integration of new business lines from NBD funnel into the SBU operations
    • Engage early with NBD team in the development of the business case for areas of disruptive innovation. Focus on the business interest (market pull, commercial viability, routes to market, fit with the strategy).
    • Support the NBD Venture Managers while developing the opportunity. This can include shaping the value proposition and meeting key prospective customers to establish executive contact, enabling continuity when business is integrated
    • Partner with NBD to design the business transition from NBD to the SBU adopting fit for purpose best practices laid out in the business transition framework.
    • Guide the resources working on the business integration through the high uncertainty period between NBD and a full commercial opportunity.
  • Exploration of new areas to feed the adjacencies pipeline within the SBU to sustain the 5% year on year growth target.
    • Drive culture of growth, encouraging and coaching opportunity identification and nurturing across the SBU
    • Lead the triage of new opportunities for adjacencies from within the SBU (those that are not clear step out new businesses that will be funnelled via NBD)
    • Develop business cases from idea to feasibility, desirability, viability.
    • Assess possible inorganic options (partnerships, JDA, etc) in collaboration with Corporate Strategy.
    • Focal point for leadership engagement with other functions like Procurement, Supply Chain & Planning, etc.
  • Member of the SBU Leadership Team
  • Head team of 2-4 Technology, Commercial or Tech Sales colleagues (depending on SBUs headcount evolution) based globally

A successful candidate is likely to:

  • Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering. Masters or PhD may be of value given the technology basis for Infineum growth model
  • 5+ years of experience in new business development in the specialty chemicals world, with a proven track record of success developing organically profitable new business segments
  • Be a hands-on business development manager
  • Have a hunter mindset and style
  • Have an entrepreneurial approach, not defined/constrained by the job description
  • Have very good relationship and networking skills
  • Have very good communication skills
  • Be intellectually curious and commercially minded
  • Be at ease with the highest level of ambiguity environment in the company
