2nd Dec, Innovation Made Green, TECOM HZ 2023, it's a WRAP! Over a week has passed, but we still can feel the support from the participants, the speakers, the partners and our community members and friends! 200+ people came together, discussing, learning from the experts and each other, on green technologies in different industries, and latest #sustainability development. 📌Feeding 10 billion mouths by 2050 - more innovative ways of food production are needed, as well as reduce wasting 1/3 of it. Still a huge challenge. 📌Greener future relies on better technologies, starting from the design of every product and every action. Greener DESIGN is crucial. 📌3060 goal is still a very ambitious one. It takes whole society's mindset and colletive effort to achieve. 📌Only when sustainability mindset is deeply rooted in every individual's consciousness, society will head towards the hopeful direction. Hope the ongoing #cop28 will shed more light on the greener future with more concrete regulations, guidelines and innovation updates. On individual level, start from small actions immediately and make a habit of doing them. Great teamwork guys! Hangzhou was painted vibrantly green by TECOM Hangzhou 2023! It has been yet another wonderful and fulfulling day spent learning some new insights on the topics of Sustainability and ESG! Had the opportunity to partake in two amazing workshops put together by Tim Binnion and Xenia Sidorenko. The first one was on Designing for Emotional Durbaility, where Tim led us through how to create a better emotional connection between your product and customers. We even got to channel our inner-creativity to design our very own specialized products! While the second workshop was on Fast Fashion and how to build a more ecofriendly wardrobe, with a bit of hands-on fun involved! Thanks to Xenia, it most certainly has made me re-think on how and where I source my clothing, as well as how I maintain and choose to dispose of them. Also got to sit in on Proffesor Hurry's, Dr. Hareesh Pillai, keynote on ESG and Forecasting, which was equally thought provoking and interesting, especially the Q&A session! Really look forward to hearing more of your perspectives on it. Always great to see familiar faces from TECOM Shanghai. There was also a great range of startups which involved a multitude of innvoative methods contributing towards a more green and sustainable future altogether. And nice to see Pablo Rabadán Cordón again, there with startup StyleMate, a brilliant fashion AI tech startup definitely worth checking out! It was a great event organized and hosted by a fantastic team Kay Xu, Marian Danko, Ella Mary Taylor, Lucien Pang and the rest of the TECOM team. Am very grateful for all the hardwork you have put into making this into another great day!

Climate change is one of humanity’s most pressing challenges, ESG is a framework that helps stakeholders understand how an organization is managing risks and opportunities related to environmental, social, and governance criteria. Technology mediation is expected to enable solutions for better ESG management and solve a wide range of challenges. During my keynote speech at the TECOM 2023 in Hangzhou, China. I discussed the idea of building a barebone Technology Stack for ESG management with members of industries. In simple words, a technology stack is a list of technology services used to build and run a variety of applications. A barebone technology stack in theory will help speed up the development process as stakeholders can more confidently experiment by hiring full-stack developers or experts in individual technologies and enable scalability. However, a bare-bone stack is still years away from realization and would require industry-university cooperation to create. I, however, was very happy to discuss the ingredients that could go into building such a stack during my keynote speech followed by discussions. I thank the organizers, hosts, volunteers, speakers, and moderators who made these discussions possible and share some photos with my LinkedIn network. 今天有幸受邀参加于杭州举办的TECOM，聆听到联合国全球地理信息知识与创新中心主任李朋德先生关于UN最新的可持续发展问题研究的主旨演讲。同时，我在下午的主舞台“绿色创新”版块中做了“基于技术预测视角的ESG技术栈构建”的分享，并且有机会与众多的参与者开展讨论和交流。这是一个技术日新月异的时代，为了探索可持续发展的实现，学界与产业界的朋友们均对新技术的发展极为感兴趣，例如低碳代码等。未来需要产学合作，共同创造一个更美好的世界。

🚫🌏 You know nothing about sustainability It was a real eye-opener to learn how passionate startups and companies are leading their businesses sustainably: this was TECOM #Hangzhou. 🌱 DEI, Digital Twins for Decarbonization, Foodtech, VR, Data Sustainability, Emotional Durability, Clean Energy, and Sustainability in Entrepreneurship, amongst many others. From startups in super early stages with a purpose and a brutal vision to established entities that are already positively impacting the direction the planet is taking. Incredible workshops like those of Tim Binnion and Xenia Sidorenko, super interesting presentations with Sissi CHAO, Mark Bawtree and Richard Brubaker and amazing panels by experts like Jessica Gleeson, Christiana Zhu, Lucien Pang, Sophia Slingerland, Stéphane Vernède and Ellen Wu among many that really made an impact on me. It was an honor to present StyleMate to the entrepreneurial ecosystem of Hangzhou and to share our mission of reducing #ReturnRates in fashion online retail. I leave with a couple of startups in mind not to lose sight of: Bituo Technik and Greenie Web. Delighted to be a panelist at TECOM Hangzhou 2023! This is my first time being part of a sustainability panel in China and it was made even more special given that this year's edition was held at the same time as COP28 UAE. It was a good time of learning and discussion about #digitalsustainability, #circularity and #decarbonization with my fellow panelists. Shoutout to fellow panellists Tim Binnion of (better)labs, Sophia Slingerland (Ateliers-Phi) and Vans Zhang (TRASHAUS) along with our moderator Lucien Pang (GenNow PR & Communications) for a meaningful and lively chat on very serious subject matters. It was also a pleasure to have connected in person with Dr. Li Pengde of the United Nations Global Geospatial Knowledge and Innovation Center, Richard Brubaker (Collective Responsibility), Alicia Tung and Dr. Hareesh Pillai. Thoroughly enjoyed our conversations and gleaned so much insights from your deep expertise in each topic. Last but not least, a big thank you to the organizers from Xiaoshan, Hangzhou government and weHustle for putting together the event. As some governments around the world start to backtrack from sustainability, it is heartening to see the local government continuing their push towards net zero. Innovation Made Green was the theme at TECOM Hangzhou on Saturday, and I was delighted to contribute my experiences with (better)labs as part of the Entrepreneurs Perspective on Sustainability panel discussion. It was a lively chat with Sophia Slingerland from Ateliers-Phi, Vans Zhang from TRASHAUS and Ian C. from Greenie Web, covering the #circular economy, sustainable internet practices, dry toilets and #recycled materials, all moderated by the always upbeat Lucien Pang.
