Fruit is 100% Bacchus grape and sourced from vineyards in Kent, Essex and Sussex, and then whole-bunch pressed and fermented at cool temperatures to retain the aromatic purity. Bacchus is an ideal pairing to seafood, summer salads or Thai cuisine and a great alternative to a Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. Best served chilled. Winner of Wine GB Silver Award 2020.

I love wine made from the Bacchus grape and Chapel Down is much favoured. This particular one has wheelbarrows of elderflower nose, buckets of tongue-curling acidity and none too high in alcohol. Ideal for sipping in the garden on a sunny afternoon or sheltering indoors on a blustery winter day. In fact any time is a good excuse.

If you can, visit the vineyard and you will smell and taste what the French call 'terrior' as you experience the vineyard's soil and environment. It's also currently (June 21) at a lower price than most other outlets. Hic hic horray!

I was given a bottle of this wine for a birthday present and absolutely loved it, really good crisp and light flavour and aromatic. I've since ordered a few more and given them to friends and family and they've gone down really well indeed.

Buying an English wine will also go to help a growing industry and hopefully help bring prices down for what is a home grown premium product.
