Steve Nicks has confirmed that Fleetwood Mac are officially broken up for good, explaining that following the death of Christine McVie in 2022, “there’s no chance of putting Fleetwood Mac back together in any way. Without her, it just couldn’t work.”

Nicks and fellow Fleetwood Mac bandmate Mick Fleetwood have expressed similar sentiments since McVie’s tragic passing from a stroke on November 30th, 2022. However, in a new interview with Mojo, Nicks made her most explicit proclamation to date: “Without Christine [McVie], no can do.”

Nicks also noted that Lindsey Buckingham, who left the band in 2018 after the two had a falling out, has been dealing with his own health issues. Even if the two were to reconcile, she doubts he would be able to “do the kind of touring that Fleetwood Mac does, where you go out for a year and half. It’s so demanding.”

As such, Nicks said she is content touring solo and intends to celebrate Fleetwood Mac’s legacy on her own.  “Fleetwood Mac is all over my set… I will keep the music of Fleetwood Mac alive, for as long as I can,” she promised.

Speaking of which, Nicks will wrap up her latest slate of US shows this week, including a co-headlining date at Soldier Field in Chicago with Billy Joel, before embarking on a run of shows in the UK and Europe in July. Get tickets to her upcoming concerts here.
