Eels’ Mark Oliver Everett — otherwise known simply as “E” — chats with Kyle Meredith about the band’s new album, Eels Time! Listen to the conversation above or wherever you get your podcasts.

E dives into his recent experience of undergoing open heart surgery, although he explains that any song on Eels Time! that deal with mortality or existentialism were written prior to the procedure. The indie rock songwriter goes on to touch on the decades-long process of bringing “And You Run” to life, writing with The All-American Rejects’ lead singer Tyson Ritter, and his role in Catherine Hardwicke’s 2022 film Prisoner’s Daughter starring Brian Cox and Kate Beckinsale.
