Thank you for participating in National Poppy Day®
Thank you to our American Legion Family members who distributed poppies in their communities in May! Your commitment helped spread the importance of honoring the fallen and supporting the living who have worn our nation’s uniform. If you have questions on how poppy funds can be spent, read this blog
Poppies spotted on television
The National Headquarters of both The American Legion and ALA were proud to see Legion Family poppies on two Indianapolis television stations. Anchors on the Sunrise broadcast of WTHR-TV, an NBC affiliate (pictured), wore different versions of the poppy to show support. Later that day, during the annual broadcast of the 500 Festival Memorial Service on WISH-TV, the anchor, along with dignitaries, 500 Festival Princesses, Legion Family members, and others in attendance wore our traditional crepe paper poppies. Thank you for your support!
Help military children pursue their education dreams
Make a positive impact on the lives of our young people by donating to the ALA Children of Warriors National Presidents’ Scholarship Fund! It’s important to acknowledge the sacrifices made by our servicemembers, as well as the sacrifices made by their children. Providing funds to assist these children in following their dreams shows how much we care. Plus, supporting higher education is an investment in the future of our nation.  Click here  to give to the Children of Warriors National Presidents’ Scholarship Fund today.

Disability benefits now available for Blue Water Vietnam Navy veterans
About 90,000 Blue Water Navy veterans will now get disability benefits. The Department of Justice has dropped its appeal of the federal court decision in Procopio vs. Wilkie. This ruling reverses the Veterans Affairs policy that denies disability benefits to Navy veterans who served on ships off the coast of Vietnam. Veterans who served between 1962 and 1975 are presumed to have been exposed to Agent Orange. The Agent Orange Act of 1991 applied only to veterans who served on land, not the Navy veterans who served on ships off the coast of Vietnam.
