Members of the Commission for Economic Policy (ECON) have agreed to hold the 24th meeting of the ECON commission on 24 October in Tampere, Helsinki. At this meeting, members will hold discussions and adopt the opinion on Challenges and Opportunities of Artificial Intelligence in the Public Sector: defining the role of Regional and Local Authorities drawn up by rapporteur Alberto CIRIO (IT/EPP), the opinion on Proposal for a regulation on the screening of foreign investments in the Union drawn up by rapporteur Michael MURPHY (IE/EPP) and the opinion on The future of the single market and the EU's competitiveness drawn up by rapporteur Martijn VAN GRUIJTHUIJSEN (RENEW/NL).
On the next day, the ECON commission will organise, together with the City of Tampere, a conference on Digital transformation as a changemaker for citizens, companies and the local and regional economy. The agenda of the conference will be structured around two panels:
(1) European policy action for an enhanced use of Artificial Intelligence in public administration,
(2) Best practice – Boosting uptake of Artificial intelligence in cities and regions.
The draft agenda and practical information on the meeting and conference arrangements will be provided in due time.
