If everything you drink is special, then nothing is special

This might seem like yet another coffee video but it's not.

Marcella Hazan’s Tomato Sauce

"The legendary Italian cookbook author Marcella Hazan's famous tomato sauce is one of those recipes that defies logic. How does a halved whole onion, half a stick of butter, and a can of tomatoes turn into the most luscious, comforting sauce in the world? It's magic. Don't question it. Just file it away to cook over and over again." Emily Johnson How to prepare it? Watch this 1-minute video NYTimes Cooking  and never ever dare to buy a jarred tomato sauce! đźŤ… P.S. Don't discard the onion, it's a perfect addition to, well, anything.

Life is nothing but a dream

I did not plan it but I had lots of dreams last night.  First I woke up in the middle of the night, my arms crossed on my chest in a defensive pose. I was chased and I knew I had no chance of escaping it, they would always find me. The moment I woke up I knew it hadn't been the first time this scenario was played in my dreams. The suffocating feeling of being surrounded by alien forces was so real.  When I was a teen I would have a great deal of fun mocking my mum for trying to interpret her dreams with a book or two we had on our shelf. The book was black and had a lot of references to mythology, or at least that's what I remember. The fact that at that age I could playfully tease my mother about what she read might explain lots of my character traits. Anyway, I couldn't understand how on earth you can make anything out of your dream? A few laters I read lucid dreaming from the Bon Buddhist tradition of Tibet and the importance of the symbolism of our dreams. That was some

Model

“Any model you build is only going to be good for answering the questions you asked,” Christina Edholm, PhD, of Scripps College. That's a real quote from the article on mathematical models , a topic which usually I'd avoid but it's pop-science dive so it wouldn't hurt, I thought. A very interesting article indeed. That's why I like to read around, you never know what can inspire you. Something that might not make any sense to anyone else, except you and me.  “Models thus need to be a living tool ” Nina Fefferman, PhD, an evolutionary biologist at the University of Tennessee.

Knife sharpening

When I look at this picture it seems like something gruesome happened. Quite the contrary. Today I sharpened my knives (in other words: a day when I finally decided that I can't procrastinate any longer.)  Although it's a simple process, it requires your full attention. Moving your hands back and forth, feeling the knife's edge; it's an intimate process when one might feel singularity in a moment.  So, next time when you cry while chopping onions, it's not their fault — it's your dull knife.

Follow the path

 If you see it.
