The UEFA European Championship is coming to an end, but top-class football is here to stay in Germany. This weekend, 13 and 14 July, teams from the regional, top and district leagues, as well as junior Bundesliga teams, will compete against each other over two days at the BITZER CUP. The matches at TuS Ergenzingen's Breitwiesen Stadium promise pure excitement. On Sunday, the junior teams of VfB Stuttgart and FC Bayern München will face off in a southern classic. No less characterised by rivalry, the juniors of SC Freiburg and Karlsruher SC will meet in the “Baden derby” in the second semi-final. In June, the Industrial Refrigeration Network (IRN) conference was held for the first time at the SCHAUFLER Academy in Rottenburg-Ergenzingen, Germany – we posted about it. One presentation focused on Cooling as a Service (CaaS). CaaS is increasingly popular in industrial refrigeration. By exchanging ownership for usership, companies can focus on their core business and at the same time profit from the latest innovations in refrigeration technology. The shift towards CaaS represents a transformative opportunity for the refrigeration and heat pump industry. The combination of heating and cooling as well as, possibly, power generation will provide still new opportunities. Today is World Refrigeration Day® incorporating World Heatpumps Day 🎉! "Temperature Matters ... Absolutely" – that's this year's motto. For the very first time, the initiators are not only focusing on refrigeration and air conditioning technology, but also on heat pumps. And the initiators are commemorating the birthday of Lord Kelvin 💡: the pioneer of thermodynamics and namesake of the absolute temperature scale was born on 26 June 1824. 200 years later, the thermodynamic principles are the same – but we can utilise them better and better to ensure the right temperature in an efficient and sustainable way. Tonight, for example: when Ronaldo, De Bruyne and co. take an ice bath or a hot shower after their European Championship match, our industry will ensure the right temperature for recovery.
