Dieter Drohmann, CEO of the Chemservice Group, is co-author of the recently published 4th edition of Corporate Compliance – a manual on liability avoidance in the company. Dieter's contribution concerned the area of global chemicals law. Corporate Compliance describes the obligations for proper corporate management. This term has now become established. The increasingly dense body of regulations and the ever-increasing demands placed on companies increase risks such as external and internal liability, breaches of supervisory duties and criminal offenses. This work presents the individual areas affected from the perspective of the entrepreneur and deals with those organizational measures that meet the legal requirements for company management. The work has been completely restructured and revised for the 4th edition. Hardly any other area has seen such rapid development as corporate compliance. The new edition streamlines the work and at the same time broadens the perspective to include newer areas such as CSR, ESG and compliance culture. AUTHORISATION FOR REACH ANNEX XIV SUBSTANCE IN SWITZERLAND GRANTED The Swiss chemicals legislation has integrated the EU REACH regulation into its legal framework. Therefore, no authorisation must be applied for under Swiss chemicals legislation: - if the European Commission has granted an authorisation based on Article 60 paragraph 1 of the REACH Regulation and the substance is placed on the market and used in accordance with the EU authorisation or - for those uses of the substance concerned for which an application for authorisation has been submitted in due time in accordance with Article 62 of the REACH Regulation, but for which no decision has yet been taken. If a use in Switzerland is not covered by an EU authorisation, an application must be submitted to the Notification Authority for Chemicals (BAG) for an exemption in accordance with Annex 1.17 Number 2 Paragraph 4 of the Chemical Risk Reduction Ordinance (ORRChem) for uses in Switzerland. This application is very similar to the REACH authorisation procedure. Chemservice Schweiz GmbH has prepared, applied, and received a corresponding authorisation for the client. This timely event addressed the pressing PFAS issue, presenting current legislative solutions and their impacts. Discussions focused on balancing risks and benefits, exploring sustainable alternatives, assessing product safety, environmental impact of production processes, and emerging points.
