Krankenhäuser und Gesundheitseinrichtungen
We work towards the goal to give every baby the best start in life.
Info
EFCNI is the first pan-European organistation to represent the interests of preterm infants, ill newborns and their families. It brings together parents, healthcare experts from various disciplines, scientists, politicians and other stakeholders, with the common goal of reducing preterm birth rates and improving long-term health of preterm and newborn children. Our vision is to ensure that every baby born receives the best start in life - independently of the place of birth. For reaching this, we encourage all the stakeholders to implement European-wide harmonized standards of care for newborn health. To achieve our aims, we combine the strengths of all those involved in pregnancy, childbirth and child health.

🎉🛠️ Our latest #ResearchNews feature a newly developed self-management self-efficacy (SMSE) tool. It has the potential to assess a woman’s behaviour, risks, and needs to subsequently tailor early health interventions individually to reduce the risk of preterm birth! 📋 🍊 🚴♀️ 😣 Preterm birth is associated with long-term adversities such as increased morbidity and mortality. Therefore, the SMSE tool can help prevent such consequences of adverse pregnancy outcomes and strengthen the mother’s agency to adopt healthy behaviours, supporting her own health and the health of the unborn child. 👩👦 💪 The SMSE scale was developed by South Korean scientists and included feedback and information from almost 700 women to ensure the comprehensiveness and validity of the tool and to effectively support women of childbearing age before and during pregnancy through to a healthy birth! 👶✨ Find out more at: https://lnkd.in/d6arXFur #HealthyPregnancy #SelfEfficacy ©Pexels

🔊At the Do's and Don'ts Congress in #Ljubljana we are raising awareness about the importance of #ParenteralNutrition for very #preterm and sick newborns ❓𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐧𝐮𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧? 💡🩺𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐧𝐮𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 (PN) is a feeding method that bypasses the digestive tract by delivering vital nutrients directly to the bloodstream through a small needle or tiny tube. Adequate nutritional intakes – especially during the first 1000 days of life – are essential for promoting growth and health, including long-term metabolic, cognitive, and neurodevelopmental outcomes. However, babies born preterm need some time to establish nutrition intake via the gastrointestinal tract, therefore PN is the only alternative method for them to meet nutrient requirements. PN is also crucial in babies with illnesses affecting the digestive tract (e.g. congenital or acquired gut disorder like necrotising enterocolitis (NEC). 🗒Would you like to learn more about this topic? Little fighters need extra nutrients 💜 At the Do's and Don'ts Congress in beautiful Ljubljana, we highlighted the importance of fortification in preterm and sick babies with our factsheet for parents and caregivers. 📄 For optimal development and growth, preterm, sick, or low-birth-weight babies require additional proteins, fats, carbohydrates, and calories alongside breast milk. Fortifying breast milk is one effective way to meet these needs. Our factsheet provides an overview of the areas of application, types, and components of fortification for preterm and sick babies. 👶 👉 Download your free copy now: https://lnkd.in/ep5v9X5H #UENPS #neonatology #perinatology #preterm #fortification #nutrition The topic of fortification is kindly supported by Prolacta Bioscience.

🌟 Advocating for #ZeroSeparation 🌟 We had the privilege of attending an insightful presentation on the vital topic of immediate skin-to-skin contact at the Do’s and Don’ts Congress in Ljubljana. 🌼👶 Stina Klemming presented the latest recommendations for immediate skin-to-skin contact, sharing evidence from the "Immediate Parent-Infant Skin-to-Skin Study." This research underscores the significant benefits of the practice, particularly for very preterm infants. In addition to the study's findings, the essential requirements for clinical practice and safety were outlined, ensuring this vital practice can be implemented effectively and safely in neonatal care. Furthermore, she highlighted the importance of continued skin-to-skin contact, facilitated by keeping mothers and babies together through the concept of mother-newborn couplet care. This approach not only strengthens the bond between mother and baby but also promotes better health outcomes for both. We continue to advocate for zero separation and support practices that keep our tiniest patients close to their parents from the very beginning. 🤱👣 UENPS - Union of European Neonatal and Perinatal Societies MCA Scientific Events #neonatology #perinatology #NewbornHealth #KMC #KangarooMotherCare #FamilyCenteredCare #SkinToSkin #preterm #ZeroSeparation

🥳𝐓𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞 𝐍𝐞𝐮𝐢𝐠𝐤𝐞𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐧!
