Do you really need fresh water for toilet flushes, cooling systems, or landscaping? This was the question the FCM team of Global Real Estate in Bengaluru asked. In many countries, fresh water is in short supply. So, the team did some research into what recycled water could be used for. The result? Water can be used 100% again for their construction sites - for things like:    🌊 Air filters  🌊 Gardening  🌊 Flushing toilets  🌊 Heating, ventilation and air conditioning   We are very pleased to be able to share our innovative and sustainable projects with you. 👀 Watch out, we can also build radically. In Casablanca, Morocco, for example! This is where we at Global Real Estate @ Bosch have built a new head office for Bosch in North Africa. The building is extraordinary in many ways: 🥇 It is the first of its kind in Morocco to operate without air conditioning 90 percent of the time, with the exception of the server room. 🤩 🧱 The façades are constructed from clay sourced during the cellar excavation and recycled using traditional Moroccan building techniques. 💡 An sophisticated system for window operation, combined with daylight sensors, regulates temperature and lighting to maximize energy savings. 🌱💦 The building features a planted inner courtyard with a water basin, which together provide fresh air naturally. 🔌 Photovoltaic systems on the roof meet all electricity and heating needs with green energy and even power the electric car charging stations in the underground parking garage. "A revolutionary and radical example of ecological building", says the Morrocco Green Building Council. Thank you for the compliment! Do you think Global Real Estate @ Bosch only builds new houses? Think again! 😀  Sometimes it's smarter to use what we already have—like an old building. Adapting existing structures can be challenging, especially when they don't meet the needs of our employees. But you know what? If it doesn’t fit, we join forces to make it fit.    Take Waiblingen near Stuttgart, Germany, for example. Bosch Healthcare Solutions (BHCS) was looking for a new home—a modern office, development, and production building. Meanwhile, a high-rise at the Powertrain Solutions site in the same city was vacant. So, we decided to transform this building to suit our new residents' needs.    Now, there's new life in this old building:    🛠️ In the basement: workshops, an archive, and changing rooms.    💨 On the first floor: BHCS manufactures the Vivatmo respiratory gas analyzer.    📱 On the second floor: a clean room for the Vivalytic all-in-one platform with six production lines.    👨🔬 Also on the second floor: the life science lab and development laboratories.    🏞️ On the third and fourth floors: offices, project areas, and a lounge with a loggia offering a great view.    ⚡ On the roof: a photovoltaic system generating clean electricity.    And last but not least, the high-rise has been renovated to be energy-efficient, ready for the coming decades. Thank you for joining the GR-Forum! 🩵    1200 Global Real Estate @ Bosch colleagues from 34 countries gathered in front of screens last Tuesday and Wednesday for our annual networking event. Some met in larger groups to attend the event – for example, at our site in Curitiba, Brazil. 🥳    Fun fact: For the first time, we met as avatars on a virtual platform. Creating these stand-ins at the beginning was the first highlight for many of us. 🤩    The keynotes on current topics were inspiring and full of worthwhile content, e.g. on collaboration, strategy & portfolio and concepts for the future. We also met in digital marketplaces and workshops on topics such as Integrated Facility Management (IFM), Computer Aided Facility Management (CAFM), and Global Corporate ID (GCID). There was also plenty of opportunity for dialog and to exchange ideas.💡    It is always great to see how big and diverse our global GR family is. Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed. Our aim? 400,000 satisfied Bosch employees. Our tool? Digitalization. 🚀      “Digitalization is not an end. It enables evolution," says Thomas Walter, Head of Business Digital Operation at Global Real Estate @ Bosch.      This, for example:      🌐 We want our IT systems to speak the same language worldwide. With 2,200 properties, that's not easy! But it's worth it. Globally compatible IT makes it easier for us to work together - and more transparent and cost-effective.      🍃 Before the construction of new buildings, we first simulate them digitally. In this way, we can ensure from the outset that the result will be as efficient, as environmentally friendly and as healthy as possible.       🏢 We create a digital twin for each of the buildings we build. To do this, we record everything that can be seen - such as rooms, equipment and so on - and then link this data to all process and technical data in real time. A bit abstract? Well, yes, it is. But it helps, for example, in the maintenance and servicing of the systems.      🏡 In the future, Bosch employees will be able to interact and collaborate from anywhere in the world. We are working on a virtual Bosch home for this purpose. It may no longer contain a coffee machine. But it will reduce business travel, the shortage of skilled workers, and environmental pollution.      What do you think about digitalization? It wasn't easy to expand our site in Wroclaw, Poland. 😶 Where a logistics building and a warehouse now stand, construction workers found something unexpected: ammunition from the Second World War. Obviously, nothing could be done on the site while they were still in the ground. They had to be professionally removed, which was the first challenge. 🥵 With the outbreak of war, the Ukrainian specialists at the construction site returned home. For our project, this meant that the team on site was short of people and we had to find replacements - challenge number two. ✌️ The crisis also meant that steel, copper and other materials were in short supply. We had to find alternative sources at short notice.
