    So what is #employeelistening? Now that this concept pops up more and more, it’s time to address what it actually encompasses. On the surface, it seems obvious. Employee listening stands for listening to your employees, right? However, a few twists and cultural shifts are necessary for it to become 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐚 𝐛𝐮𝐳𝐳𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐝. ✅ Employee listening drives employee experience. The best way to get insight into what constitutes a great employee experience is to ask your employees directly. Employee listening, therefore, is the first step toward 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐲𝐞𝐞 𝐬𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬. ✅ Employee listening is all about giving your employees the floor. 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐲𝐞𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐬 in what they do; give them an opportunity to prove their expertise. By listening to your employees’ concerns and suggestions, you’ll gain a new perspective while simultaneously increasing the #senseofbelonging in the workplace. After all, belonging is all about feeling heard and seen. ✅ Employee listening is not possible without a strong #feedbackculture. Feedback is hard to give and sometimes even harder to receive. Yet, without implementing bottom-up (and sometimes even 360° feedback) in addition to traditional top-down feedback, there can be no employee listening. If you or your team struggle to give concise positive feedback, consider creating a blog article on the topic on your intranet or even running short feedback training sessions. ✅ Employee listening is 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐯𝐞𝐲𝐬. Annual surveys can be a great way to gain insight into employees’ motivation and goals. However, they alone are not enough to paint the whole picture.     Only 13% 𝐨𝐟 𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐲𝐞𝐞𝐬 use the #corporateintranet on a daily basis. Of course, there is usually a number of reasons as to why it is the case. However, one thing is certain: 𝐝𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐟𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭 can attract eyeballs and, by extension, increase the engagement rates with the tool. Consider some of these ideas: 🗞️ 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐧𝐞𝐰𝐬. Your employees need to have a valid reason to use this technology; keeping up-to-date with the market drivers might become such a reason, at least for your desk workers. 📄 𝐏𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐬. Likewise, your frontline workers are usually limited in time and might not always have a mobile device. Again, giving them a valid reason to access the company intranet either before or after the shift will increase their engagement rates. 🐈 𝐅𝐮𝐧𝐧𝐲 𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐨𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝/𝐨𝐫 𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐬. As long as it doesn’t go against any corporate language policies, entertaining content remains one of the biggest drivers of engagement on platforms. 📣 "𝐀𝐬𝐤 𝐦𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠" 𝐰𝐞𝐛𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐨𝐫 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐬. If you’re working for a large organization, you’re likely struggling with keeping a clean information flow. Scheduling regular webinars or posts for employees to ask departmental heads any questions anonymously will not only improve the information flow, but is likely to boost trust within the company. #corporatecontent #internalcommunications
