The Sealing Technology Working Group (AK Dichtungstechnik) of the FVA (Forschungsvereinigung Antriebstechnik) met in Munich from June 10 to 11, hosted by Klüber Lubrication. The event was well attended by both company and university representatives, with 38 people participating. A key moment was welcoming eight new members from academia and industry, including people from Bosch Rexroth and REINTJES Group. Marius Kuhn (Head of Business Development at Klüber) started the event with a welcome speech and introduced us as the host. University staff shared updates on various FVA projects, giving insights into ongoing research. A special highlight was a guest lecture by Prof. Dr.-Ing. M. Kröger from TU Freiberg, who talked about "Local tribology at the RWDR and its effects on sealing function." Participants also toured the Tribology Department, seeing some of the 110 different tribometers, and some visited the production facilities, which was very interesting. A leading UK paper manufacturer has transformed itself, and moved from experiencing multiple bearing failures to a 50% reduction due to a world-class lubrication program. There was even a song dedicated to him: The musical piece "Der Theodor, der Theodor, der steht bei uns im Fußballtor" (“Theodor, Theodor, he's standing in our football goal”) was dedicated to Theodor Klüber in 1948 by composer Werner Bochmann; The lyrics were written by Kurt Feltz and the song was sung by Theo Lingen. Today, preserved photographs remind us of his dedication on the field. The images show Theodor Klüber (6th from left) and his teammates in 1937 and Theodor Klüber’s football shoes. His love for football and the spirit of sportsmanship continue to inspire us even more than 80 years later. Here’s to a fantastic start of the championship! 🎉⚽

During the ERG ESG SUPPLIERS DAY held on 5 June in Genoa, Italy, Klüber Lubrication Italia received the award for the best carbon footprint project and was also awarded in the Best Score Improvement category, taking the podium. The Lube-footprint project, developed by Luciano Peyron and Manlio Astolfi in collaboration with ERG's production optimization group, shows how special lubrication contributes to the reduction of climate-altering emissions in the wind power sector.
