Im Rahmen des von Reverion geleiteten Arbeitspaketes 7 im Projekt H2-Reallabor-Burghausen-Chemdelta Bavaria, haben wir gemeinsam mit unseren Partnern Technical University of Munich & Carbon CO2ncepts GmbH bedeutsame Fortschritte erzielt 👏 Der Fokus liegt auf einer Integration der innovativen Reverion-Technologie an einer von uns und unserem Partner errichteten Biogasaufbereitungsanlage. An der Anlage soll abgeschiedenes CO2 verflüssigt werden, um dessen Transport und Wiederverwendung in der chemischen Industrie im ChemDelta Bavaria zu ermöglichen. How big is the potential of #biomethane in combination with #CCS? 🌱 During an interview with Biomethane RNG Channel at last year’s BIOGAS Convention, our CEO Zoltan Elek, shared some insights into how #carbonremoval solutions can generate up to 50 million tons of CO2, contributing to negative emissions. This biogenic CO2 can be used for multiple purposes, such as in the food industry, and especially in storage.   The best part? This is already part of the biomethane production! 🌍 Driven by technological advancements and stronger decarbonization commitments, CDR is set to become a cornerstone of global climate change mitigation efforts🌱 📊 Our latest study conducted in collaboration with Boston Consulting Group (BCG) and Deutscher Verband für negative Emissionen e.V. (DVNE) reveals the vital role that Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) plays in neutralizing residual, hard-to-abate emissions, such as those from the cement industry, aligning with all pathways defined by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) for 1.5°C and below 2°C global warming above reference temperatures. 💶 Projections indicate that #CDR technologies could be worth €470-940 billion annually by 2050. With anticipated cost reductions of up to 85% for methods like Bioenergy with Carbon Capture and Storage (#BECCS) and Direct Air Carbon Capture and Storage (#DACCS), the market could grow up to €940 billion annually. Further yet nascent CDR methods like Biochar Carbon Removal (#BCR) or Enhanced Rock Weathering (#ERW) could contribute significantly to this growth. #CarbonDioxideRemoval #NetZero #Sustainability 🌏

Despite over 96% of global greenhouse gas emissions coming from countries that have pledged climate action, our current trajectory is still significantly falling behind the efforts needed for the 1.5°C target established by the Paris Agreement. Can Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) be an essential puzzle piece of climate change mitigation?🌍 Together with Boston Consulting Group (BCG) and Deutscher Verband für negative Emissionen e.V. (DVNE), we have worked on a study which highlights that ramping up global CDR volume to at least 4.5-9 gigatons annually by 2050 will be inevitable to limit global warming to below 2°C or 1.5°C, respectively. 📊Our study shows that #CDR is crucial for reversing and stabilizing atmospheric CO2 levels, significantly mitigating the impacts of global warming, and supporting ambitious net-zero goals. It addresses residual emissions from hard-to-abate sectors like steel, cement, and chemicals, and can also „clean up“ historical emissions to prevent their continued effect on global warming. Understanding and integrating CDR into our climate strategies is vital for a sustainable future.
