Linde has signed a long-term agreement to supply clean hydrogen to Dow’s Fort Saskatchewan Path2Zero Project in Alberta, Canada. The new on-site complex, which will be built, owned, and operated by Linde, will use autothermal reforming to produce clean hydrogen. It will also recover hydrogen contained in off-gases from Dow’s ethylene cracker. In total, Linde’s complex will capture carbon dioxide emissions for sequestration, exceeding 2 million metric tons each year. Pyrolysis Oil, a liquid hydrocarbon mixture resulting from pyrolysis of plastic waste, can be used as a feedstock for steam crackers. The result: Mixed plastic waste can be recycled and used to create new plastics, a process known as chemical recycling. The main advantages are that these recycled plastics have the same high quality as virgin plastics, are environmentally friendly due to less dependence on fossil feedstocks and that they reduce the amount of plastic waste disposed in landfills or sent to waste incineration. Prevent unplanned shutdowns of Steam Methane Reformers with the help of our Lifetime Prediction Model included in our PLANTSERV® Materials Engineering Services. Based on a 3D creep model, we assess the remaining lifetime for reformer tubes or any equipment in creep or high temperature services. This model calculates the deformation on the inner and outer diameter and can be used in a digital twin of the reformer.
