🌟 Paper Alert: Founding Geneticist Lena Kaisinger's latest study on puberty genetics is out in Nature Genetics! The large team of researchers from the MRC Epidemiology Unit at University of Cambridge, identified genetic signals affecting pubertal timing, an important risk factor for later-life diseases. Another interesting study on #geneticevidence and #clinicalsuccess rates, this time by 23andMe, investigating genetic associations in the 23andMe cohort. 23andme confirms target-indication pairs with genetic support to be 2-3x enriched for clinical success relative to the 10% industry average success rate. Today, no program should start or advance without at least some form of genetic evidence. However, the quality of the evidence derived matters: simple associations often do not hit inflection points in early R&D. The true power of human genetics is in establishing allelic series on dose response with precise clinical phenotypes. To truly navigate R&D decision-making, drug developers require human evidence yielding actionable molecular insights.
