[#GenAi] We've dedicated an entire month to exploring the fascinating world of Generative AI. 🌟 🤖 Generative AI, a subfield of AI and deep learning, is revolutionizing the way we interact with machines. Using algorithms and models trained on large amount of historical data, these technologies can generate new content such as images, text, music, and video. This transformative power enables computers to autonomously create, predict, and learn without explicit human intervention. Our colleagues from different departments participated in training sessions and learned how to use different models and tools under Saint-Gobain guidelines. To truly understand the potential of Generative AI, frequent hands-on use is essential. That's why, as part of our training, we've also created a collaborative challenge for all departments:   💡 𝗖𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗮𝗻 𝗔𝗜-𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗱𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁'𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗯𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗚𝗥 𝗚𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘆.   The results were very impressive!  Each department's unique creation came together to compose a stunning and multifaceted collage. 🌟 Career Orientation - 3 days, many impressions!🌟 The 9th grade of the Maria Sibylla Merian Comprehensive School visited us. The students had the opportunity to gain exciting insights into our company and become active themselves. Here are some of the highlights: 🔧 𝗥𝗮𝗽𝗶𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗼𝘁𝘆𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴: Our 3D printers, laser cutters and vinyl plotters were available for the students to realize their own creations. 💡 𝗪𝗶𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 & 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴: Using an Arduino board, the students were able to learn about aspects of the "electronics technician for industrial engineering" apprenticeship. 🏭 𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲: From flat glass to the finished roof panel - our production processes were explained in detail and demonstrated on site. [#LaserTechDays] Our first Laser Tech'Days: A look into the future of laser technology! 🌟 The event was a resounding success, with participants from various businesses of Saint-Gobain enjoying a diverse program. We were honored to host fantastic speakers from RWTH Aachen University, Fraunhofer ILT, FEMTO-ST Institute, Fusion Bionic GmbH, and TRUMPF. Topics ranged from trends in the laser field, AI and digitalization for laser processing, applications in e-mobility, to surface structuring with laser radiation, offering a comprehensive insight into the world of laser technology. A special highlight was the talk by Anne Hardy (Chief Innovation Officer, Saint-Gobain) on "Leveraging Technology to Build the Future," as well as the visit to the Fraunhofer ILT, where all participants had the opportunity to tour the laboratories. 🔎 True to the motto of Open Innovation, Saint-Gobain focuses on breakthrough innovations and continuous improvement of our products, processes and services in a spirit of openness and customer focus. 📢 We had the wonderful opportunity to share our expertise at FH Aachen University of Applied Sciences! Our colleague Susanne Aghassi collaborated with Prof. Dr. Christian Effertz to support the "Development Systematics and Invention Methodology" (ESIM) course. 💡 Throughout the semester, we conducted intensive Design Thinking training. The students worked in teams on exciting projects to apply and deepen their knowledge. Additionally, they explored megatrends, agile development, and the Lean Startup method. Some truly exciting projects emerged, and we hope some teams will continue their work at the Gründungszentrum FH Aachen – the opportunity is certainly available. 🙏 A special thank you to all students for their motivation and to Mathilde Guette who supported us in evaluating the pitches at the final event. #DesignThinking #Innovation #Teamwork #Careers

[#Event|#Sustainability] We had an inspiring event at RWTH Aachen University about ecological building products! 🎉 In in-depth discussions and informative presentations, we exchanged ideas with the students about the diversity and sustainability of building materials such as glass, renewable resources and recycling systems. Particularly fascinating were the lively debates on the benefits and challenges of 𝗯𝗶𝗼-𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗲 𝘃𝘀. 𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹-𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹𝘀. Aspects such as carbon footprint, durability and environmental standards were discussed. Regarding insulation material it was talked about different resources, including hemp, celluose, mineral wool and wood fibre. For example, hemp stands out for its ability to bind CO₂ and regulation of humidity, while mineral wool stand out for their fire resistance, thermal performance and recyclability. ♻️ Finally, we took a closer look at recycling and reuse. The students were particularly impressed by the Saint-Gobain Rigips GmbH Reuse Drywall System, which is easy to use and can be used directly in the construction process. As well a major interest was on the new glass products with EPD certified ORAÉ® that allows a significant reduction of CO2. Recycling and reuse play a vital role in conserving resources, minimizing waste and promoting a sustainable circular economy. [#Innovation|#Training] One training of this year's 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 was held at our Research Center in Herzogenrath! This transformative initiative brought together... 😃 18 participants 🔎 from Saint-Gobain Research and Development 🌍 from across Europe. Together, we explored the structures of the R&D organization and its strategic challenges within the company, including its important interactions with functions such as marketing, production, and customer relations. All participants gained hands-on experience with common R&D methodologies, tools, and best practices for effective innovation. They also learned the key principles of intellectual property and confidentiality that protect our innovations. What's more, they discovered R&D's key role in improving EHS and sustainability, contributing to our purpose of #MakingTheWorldABetterHome. #SGRGermany #Research #Development #Europe
