🌱🔋 A new chapter in green hydrogen storage begins at Krummhörn! The Hydrogen Pilot Cavern (HPC) Krummhörn is ready to start, marking a significant step forward in the transition to sustainable energy. Specifically designed for green hydrogen storage, this new cavern will allow us to explore its full potential under real operational conditions. Today, Olaf Lies, Lower Saxony's Minister for Economic Affairs, alongside our CEO Michael Lewis and other distinguished guests, inaugurated the facility. The event included detailed plant tours, offering insights into Uniper’s "Greener Gases" strategy. Holger Kreetz, our COO, emphasized, "Hydrogen storage will play a decisive role in the energy transition. Our HPC Krummhörn project lays the foundations for the development of storage solutions on a commercial scale and is thus part of the implementation of the “Greener Gases” strategy.” Looking ahead, we plan to expand the Krummhörn site to a storage capacity of 250 GWh, with a vision of up to 600 GWh by 2030, supporting Europe’s green energy goals. “To this end, existing and new sites along the hydrogen core network in Lower Saxony and North Rhine-Westphalia are being investigated.”, added Doug Waters, our Managing Director of Uniper Energy Storage. Strong earnings continue and green transformation implementation on schedule: Uniper H1 2024 results 📊 Our results for H1 2024 are in, and the momentum from a strong first-quarter has continued into the second quarter of the year. - First-half year earnings exceeded our expectations for the full-year 2024. We recorded an adjusted EBITDA of €1,743 million and an adjusted net income of €1,113 million. - Forecasts raised by €400 million for the 2024 financial year, for both adjusted EBITDA and adjusted net income. - Investment decisions taken totalling about €400 million for green transformation of portfolio. Our CEO Michael Lewis: “The course has been set for a successful future for Uniper. We’re prepared to do our part to accelerate the energy transition. Uniper names Joseph Deluzio as new President & CEO of North American operations. Joseph steps into the role from his position as Senior Managing Director for North American Trading. He succeeds Tina Bradshaw who was named CCO for Uniper’s global power business in June. "I am excited to support Uniper’s strategic goals and I am sure that with the great team we have in place in North America we will succeed achieving the targets we defined as a company," Joseph said. Our North American business unit has been active for more than a decade, conducting mid-stream trading and supply activities across the US and Canada that facilitate the flow of energy from domestic producers to downstream end-use markets. Our business focus in North America is developing reliable energy supply solutions that help customers achieve their security of supply and net zero objectives in an affordable manner.

I had the pleasure to take part in the Capital Market Conference on the Energy Transition in Germany on Tuesday.   I was in the first Panel Session, “Accelerating the grid expansion by infrastructure investments – electricity, heat, hydrogen” with Robert Habeck, Stefan Kapferer, Dr. Marie-Luise Wolff, Oliver Bäte, hosted by Stefan B. Wintels. I had the opportunity to share some of the opportunities and challenges facing Germany, and indeed Uniper, in the context of the expansion and conversation of the energy infrastructure on the way to Net-Zero.
