How do you inspire the next generation to care about sustainability? You show them that they have the power to make a difference – quite literally! 🙌 This year, our team in Poland took a break from building renewable energy projects to visit kindergartens and schools. Why? To spark curiosity and excitement about sustainability in the next generation! In Poland, around 200 children learned how to produce green energy by blowing into a model wind turbine and lighting up a small house with solar power. Imagine the thrill of seeing their own breath generate electricity! They also transformed a polluted city model into a clean, green space powered by renewables. It was all about learning through play, making complex concepts like recycling and green energy easy to grasp. 🌱💡 At VSB, we believe in giving back to the communities we work in. It’s not just about building wind farms and solar parks, it’s about investing in people – especially the youngest among us. We are pleased to announce the release of our 1st VSB Group Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Report for 2023. 📊🌍 The report highlights the positive impact across our business operations and reaffirms our commitment to sustainable practices across the group. Our journey in 2023 was marked by significant achievements, and 2024 is being promising as well with the approval of the Puutionsaari project (450 MW), one of the largest hybrid wind and solar PV ventures in Finland. Key 2023 highlights include: · Elster Repowering: A 105.6 MW project, achieving a 250% increase in power generation. · Baranów-Rychtal Wind Farm: Inauguration of a 42.6 MW facility, now part of our IPP. · Karahka Wind Farm: Commencement of construction of a 147.5 MW wind farm. · Development of our ESG /Sustainability strategic plan and roadmap for 2023-2025. · Implementation of our GHG Emissions Reduction targeted strategy and plan. · Establishment of our ESG International Task Force to drive our ESG initiatives globally. · Introduction of in-house measures to calculate, track, and reduce our corporate carbon footprint (CCF) for the group. For us, environmental protection is not just a promise – it is our commitment. Our projects save tonnes of CO2 annually and support communities in implementing sustainable energy concepts. In our daily work, we also take concrete measures to conserve resources and continuously minimise our ecological footprint. At VSB we take an active approach to environmental protection. Our VSB Group ESG / Sustainability department has introduced our basic environmental principles for the workplace in 2023, which all employees live by every day. Our principles are supported by training through our recently launched Learning Management System. 🚄 Sustainable business travel: By adopting a balanced mix of in-person and online meetings, as well as prioritising the use of public transport, we minimise our CO2 footprint. 💡 Energy savings: In VSB offices, unused lights and devices are consistently turned off. Natural ventilation and the optimal use of daylight are prioritised to reduce energy consumption. 🚰 Water efficiency: Dishwashers at VSB are only run when fully loaded, and water leaks are promptly reported and addressed. 🚴 Eco-friendly commuting: VSB promotes eco-friendly commuting like cycling to work and provides incentives for hybrid working models to reduce traffic and CO2 emissions. 🌱 Sustainability in the workplace: When designing and equipping VSB offices, we prioritise renewable energy and sustainable procurement practices. ♻️ Waste reduction: VSB follows to the principles of "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle." Yeah, wind and solar energy have overtaken fossil fuels in the EU for the first time ever! 🥳⚡ In the first half of 2024, wind and solar power reached an impressive milestone: with a 30% share of electricity generation, they have surpassed fossil fuels for the very first time. This is a crucial step towards a sustainable and climate-friendly future! 🌞🌬️🌍 At VSB, we share the vision of an energy supply that is 100% based on renewable energy. Every day, we work with passion and expertise 💪 towards this goal. Since our founding over 25 years ago, we have constructed more than 750 wind and solar power plants with over 1.7 GW of installed capacity. Currently, we are realising ambitious projects, including the Karahka wind farm in Finland with 170 MW, the repowering of the Elster wind farm in Germany 🇩🇪 with 105.4 MW, and the Racibórz wind farm in Poland with 41.6 MW. 🌿📸 Photo contest of VSB Croatia and Photo Club Split – Winning Photos and Exhibition Impressions 📸🌿   In June 2024 the VSB Team Croatia, led by Ante Renić, and the Photo Club Split awarded the three best photographers of the "Green – Sustainable – Achievable" photo contest. The participants were invited to submit their photos that showcase sustainable practices, environmental protection initiatives, and innovative solutions for a greener future. Whether it's capturing renewable energy sources, biodiversity conservation efforts, or eco-friendly technologies, the contest has encouraged creativity and engagement in environmental issues.   The photo competition, which took place in May, was open to all individuals interested in photography, regardless of their age or professional background. Submissions were evaluated by a panel of experts, including our very own Elizabeta Ćormehić, Project Manager at VSB Gruppe, alongside Ana Žanko and Stipe Bozic from Photo Club Split.
