    A crash course for aspiring product managers and founders about product management and UX.

  • Business Intelligence for Turkish Airlines

    Created the business intelligence dashboards for Turkish Airlines operations center. Designing and how the user should perceive the KPI's. Also worked on defining the KPI's that matters and for the executive board. Dashboards are created for different use cases, videowall, desktop application and mobile app.

    This is probably the first omnichannel marketing campaign done in Turkey. It had a big exposure in Turkish press and social media. I created the campaign and also worked on the implementation with my team.

    The challenge was to find each coupon during a live lottery from 2 million within 1 minute or less. And the coupons have no barcodes. There were 144 coupons which had to be drawn.
    We created a software, a custom built handheld terminal and a physical indexing system to tackle this challenge. We couldn't scan the coupons so we needed a software with OCR and OCR is slow. So we created a special device to make it work. We hired retired accountants (yes, only50+) in the backstage who were…

    Siemens Mobility has a great legacy in traffic management. However, the software solutions were outdated, and the decrease in market share pushed them to build something new. There had been four experimental attempts to create a platform that is desirable, feasible, and viable, but those had been killed due to several reasons. Now, the business unit has been sold and it is called Yunex. Symphony is not an MVP anymore - it is the flagship product of the entire company.

    After mapping the buyer journey, I noticed that the highest conversion rate (CVR) happens if the customer wants to have a test ride. Back then, there were no stores where anyone could go and get detailed info about the unu scooter. There was already a network of people who provided test rides, but organizing that online for 4 countries and many cities was a total disaster. The delay reduced the purchasing excitement.     My idea was to use Calendly to collect test ride bookings with just a few clicks in that moment of purchasing excitement. The north-star metric became test ride bookings, and the website design was adapted accordingly. It was an experiment but is now an industry standard. The company Calendly itself was surprised that their tool could be utilized in such a use case, and we had a session where they worked on their marketing with our case study. Besides that, our colleague who was on the phone all day organizing the bookings could focus on something else.

  • Growth hack with a double sided referral program

    The unu scooter has extra accessories that increase the value of the scooter a lot. Those are the additional charger (for example, a charger for office use) or an additional battery for doubling the maximum ride range. On the other hand, the buyers had built a natural community, and turning them into an ambassador by rewarding them with accessories was the cracking point. The referral program was a huge success and helped us grow revenues. It handled more than 40% of the total sales.

    I was brought on by Apple to facilitate the iPhone 6's debut in Turkey, where I was in charge of developing the local marketing strategy. My efforts led to the creation of a Turkish variant of the famous 'Shot on iPhone' campaign, based on my social research within the country. This campaign has achieved worldwide usage and ranks among the most effective campaigns ever executed.
