The Position

If so, we have two exciting leadership opportunities in our global PGA (Public & Government Affairs) team, part of the Corporate Affairs division. Each position - Head of PGA Human Pharma and Head of PGA Group - plays a key role in contributing to building Boehringer Ingelheim's reputation as a global leader in human and animal health.

The Head of PGA Human Pharma will manage a team dedicated to policy work in support of our therapy areas and pipeline. You will work closely with our Human Pharma business, assessing the impact, risk and opportunity of the policy environment on business strategy and providing strategic counsel in key business planning decisions. You will set the Human Pharma PGA priorities and develop and execute compelling outcome-focused PGA strategies in support of them.

The Head of PGA Group will manage a team responsible for company-wide corporate topics and international policy work, as well as building capability for the global PGA function. You will set the Group PGA priorities and develop and execute compelling outcome-focused strategies in support of them. In particular you will drive and implement a global PGA strategy supporting innovation in early R&D and a strong policy environment conducive to the Life Science sector.

Both roles sit on the global PGA Leadership team and report directly to the Global Head of PGA. Join us in one of these pivotal roles and be part of a team that is dedicated to shaping global policies that prioritize patient-centric innovation on a global scale.

Tasks & Responsibilities

  • In this dynamic and strategic role, you will be the guiding force in providing strategic counsel on PGA matters, shaping the global PGA strategy, and driving business goals
  • Your responsibilities will include developing and implementing advocacy strategies, fostering dialogues with policymakers and influencers, and showcasing Boehringer Ingelheim's value in unique and groundbreaking ways. You will also ensure the development of evidence-based policy positioning and collaborate closely with the Regional Operating Units (ROPU) to maintain strategic alignment
  • You will engage with global trade associations, enhancing Boehringer Ingelheim's visibility and reputation in the life sciences sector, and making a significant impact on society and the economy.
  • You will also build and manage a top-tier PGA team, ensuring optimal performance, skills development, and adherence to our values
  • In addition, you will be responsible for managing the allocation of PGA resources and budget, while strictly complying with all applicable policies and laws. This role offers a unique opportunity to guide strategy and make a meaningful contribution on a global scale


Requirements

  • University degree ideally in Life Sciences, Political Science or a subject relevant to the political field or an equivalent qualification
  • Long term experience of working in Public Government Affairs or Government/Non Governmental Organizations (NGOs), experience in the pharmaceuticals industry preferred
  • Profound experience of leading teams and excellent people leadership skills, particularly in the context of global structures
  • Knowledge of policy and legislative environment in various geographies
  • A bridge builder with experience working with international teams and complex matrix structures
  • Ability to identify opportunities and areas for improvement
  • Convincing and confident personality, able to diplomatically engage with key stakeholders
  • Analytical and communication skills with a strategic mindset
