About The Role

The Lacquer Technician Specialist will be responsible for laboratory support work for the lacquer team (50%) and entry level engineering tasks (50%). The engineering project work will initially be conducted under the supervision of experienced engineer to begin the knowledge transfer. Ideally, the individual will progress from technician to engineer within a few years.


Key Job Accountabilities

  • Preparing, mixing, coating, and drying lacquers according to formulations provided by the lacquer team engineers.
  • Conduct quality control tests and analysis on lacquer coatings to ensure they meet company standards and customer expectations.
  • Conducting daily use and maintenance of analytical instruments to complete assigned tests for samples prepared according to engineers' projects.
  • Following safety rules and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Collaborating with superiors and shift supervisors to determine work status, priorities, and potential problems.
  • Reviewing results and observations directly with engineers in the lacquer team to provide insight into performance alongside actual test data.
  • Being accountable for day-to-day requests by utilizing various analytical instruments such as Barrier testing, Mechanical testing, FT-IR, DSC, optical microscope, and surface analysis.
  • Compiling reports in English
  • Stay current with industry trends, regulations, and emerging technologies related to lacquer coatings.
  • Proactively driving self-development of key skills and learning to be able to step up to an engineer role in 2-3 years.


Qualifications/Requirements

  • Understanding and interest in scientific methods, ideally with a chemistry or material science background
  • Knowledge in some of the following techniques: Barrier measurements, Mechanical testing, IR spectroscopy, optical microscopy, DSC, surface analysis
  • Experience of laboratory working with wet chemistry, including full understanding of health and safety requirements
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Flexibility / ability to adapt to changing situations and various people
  • Ability to quickly learn and implement the knowledge in lacquer formulation / lacquer development
  • Demonstrated problem solving, custom focus, and team player capabilities
  • Detail oriented and hands on
  • Good level of English, any local language is a plus.
