Shipping Manager

The Shipping Manager is responsible for the shipment arrangement of all orders processed in the Procurement Centre of Rieckermann Hamburg. With this activity, the Head of Logistics actively supports the Procurement Centres efficiency and growth in coordination with the vendors and Country units as well as with order processing and finance departments.

Key Duties

Shipping

• Responsible for the complete shipping process of the procurement centre from freight cost inquiry and negotiation, shipment and insurance booking and arrangement, coordination of import and export declaration, unloading and goods handover to customers

Data Management

• Ensure correctness of shipment order, forwarder data and preparation of statistics

Process and Documentation

• Ensure that employed process is documented and in line with groups standards

Leadership Skills

• Create and implement shipping policies and procedures of the logistic department
• Supervise department staff including hiring, training and duty assignment.
• Conduct the qualification planning of team members based on forecast and training requirements

Key Requirements

• Bachelor in International Trade, International Logistics, Freight management or comparable (e.g. apprenticeships)
• Minimum 3-5 years work experience in international logistics, supply chain management, Import/Export business
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
• Working well under pressure.
• Working self-reliantly.
• Goal-oriented, dynamic and high sense of responsibility.
• Team and disciplined working spirits.
• Professional appearance and demeanour.
• Effective planning, analytical and implementation skills.
• Good computer skills and proficiency in MS Office Applications and ERP systems (NAVISION preferable)
• Excellent written and verbal English skills.
