Make hydrogen your climate game changer. Produce it. Use it. Scale it. Bosch PEM electrolysis stack and SOFC system

Info

The present is about foresight. The future is about hydrogen. This is our conviction, and we follow up our words with deeds. We are working on technologies for the production and use of green hydrogen: the Bosch PEM electrolysis stack, the beating heart of large-scale, efficient, and green hydrogen production. And the Bosch solid oxide fuel cell system, our prefabricated, smart, and scalable solution for power and heat generation. Who are we? We’re an interdisciplinary team of experts within the Bosch group, and we’re passionate about preparing for the market launch of our technologies. Our headquarters is at Bosch’s Stuttgart-Feuerbach location; our sphere of influence is the entire world. The Bosch Group is a leading global supplier of technology and services and is comprised of Robert Bosch GmbH and its roughly 440 subsidiary and regional companies in some 60 countries. Its operations are divided into four business sectors: Mobility Solutions, Industrial Technology, Consumer Goods, and Energy and Building Technology. Splitting water the easy way: Let's take a look at two currently available water #electrolysis technologies — aqueous alkaline electrolysis (AEL) and dry proton exchange membrane electrolysis (PEM). PEM technology employs a polymer electrolyte membrane as the electrically conductive operating medium between the anode and cathode. This process is called dry electrolysis because the membrane is used without liquid electrolytes. Aqueous alkaline electrolysis (AEL) uses a mixture of potassium hydroxide solution and water as a liquid operating medium.     👉 At Bosch, we utilize #PEM technology in our electrolysis stack because it offers a particularly high level of hydrogen purity. The PEM stack is also able to adapt to the weather-dependent availability of solar and wind power by scaling its capacity accordingly. Did you know that Feuerbach, Germany, is home to Bosch’s oldest location worldwide? While it embraces its rich history, it's committed to creating a bright future. The Feuerbach site is highly automated, digital, and connected, ensuring top-quality products for our customers.   I had the pleasure of experiencing firsthand our diverse hydrogen initiatives at Feuerbach. From generation, storage, and transport to a wide range of potential uses for hydrogen as an energy source, we're thinking about and designing the new energy world holistically: From decentralized plants to cover the on-site demand of production facilities over mobile hydrogen fuel cells to large-scale industrial solutions. This is the combination of technology that we need to make the energy transition reality. The Bosch electrolyzer stack is the heart of hydrogen production, capable of producing 23 kg of hydrogen per hour with a power input of up to 1.25 MW, making it ideal for industrial use. Hydrogen supports energy-intensive industrial processes, mobility applications like fuel cells and H₂ engines, and renewable fuel production: It can be converted back into electricity and heat with our solid oxide fuel cells, or H₂ boilers generate steam and heat with it. All with one clear focus – achieving the climate objectives. What impressed me most was meeting the individuals behind these solutions. Their competence and innovative spirit are the reason why we are a leading player in creating cutting-edge solutions for our customers. The teams are passionate about green hydrogen technology, driving transformation and proving Bosch's ability to continually reinvent and lead in technology. Thank you once again to the entire team for having me Beate Grota, Carola Ruse, Christoffer Uhr, Thomas Wintrich, Klaus-Frederik Lux,  Andreas Werner, Kai-Uwe Busch, and many more. Keep pushing innovative ideas #LikeABosch for our customers and a more sustainable future.

💚 A winning team for purified water: In the quest for #hydrogen, water availability is paramount. That’s where #waterpurification comes in. Our colleagues at Bosch Manufacturing Solutions have developed a new solution for remote areas to autonomously produce process water for #electrolysis 💧. 👉 The approach combines a thermal and an electrochemical process to ensure clean water, namely mechanical vapor compression distillation and electro-deionization. ✅ With this technology, we can turn saline water into ultra-pure water without supply of chemicals. Have you ever heard of these water purification processes? Let us know in the comments 💬. Read more: https://lnkd.in/e_yRk5zg
