Putting the “wheeee!” back into “electric vehicles.” It’s no secret that Germans are champions in complaining. For example, when we talk about electric mobility, we are quick to mention the lack of charging infrastructure and the drawbacks of current e-drive technology. And that may be true, and worthy of discussion. But can we just, for one moment agree that… BEVs are fun?! • Because they accelerate like crazy! (Provided you enjoy driving dynamics) • Because they don't produce any exhaust fumes, which means better air quality in cities. • Because they are pretty quiet, especially when starting off! (The tire rolling noise is of course as loud as with any vehicle) • Because when they do get up to speed, they sound like spaceships! (Some even have their sound designed Hollywood composers) And with our portfolio of e-machines, reduction drives, power electronics, converters and control software, we ensure that this type of fun won’t stop (except at a red light, of course). #BEV #emobility #ToMobilityandBeyond

Ever been woken up by the howl of a diesel engine, as the garbage truck empties bins into its chute? Then you’re all too familiar with how a power take-off (PTO) works. But good news: this can also be done much more quietly and with zero emissions, thanks to ePTO. Technology from ZF enables the battery to both draw energy (to charge the battery) and release it (to operate auxiliary units purely electrically) within a very short time. Did you know that the same technology is also the key to bi-directional charging? Here, the batteries of electric vehicles become “intermediate buffers” for the power grid - meaning they can also store and release energy within a short period of time. It is an important technology for making the power grid intelligent and flexible and achieving the goals of the energy transition towards renewables. With its converter technology, ZF is creating the basis for batteries to be able to both charge and release electricity. #emobility #smartgrid #sustainability #ToMobilityandBeyond

The energy transition is in full swing, and smart grids play a central role in this process. These modern grids enable more efficient use and distribution of energy, which not only saves costs but also protects the environment. A particularly exciting aspect is bi-directional charging. Electric vehicles (EVs) can not only draw energy from the grid but also act as mobile energy storage units. This means they can store excess energy and feed it back into the grid when needed. Thus, EVs may become crucial components of a stable and sustainable power grid. Advantages of bi-directional charging: 1. Energy Storage: EVs store excess energy that can be used when needed. 2. Grid Stability: By feeding energy back into the grid, EVs help balance fluctuations. 3. Cost Savings: Users can benefit from lower electricity rates while contributing to grid stability. With its converter technology, ZF is creating the basis for bi-directional charging and thus helping to drive forward the energy transition and shape a more sustainable future! #SmartGrid #BidirectionalCharging #Sustainability #ToMobilityandBeyond

Are we there yet? The transition to e-mobility remains a complex endeavour. One challenge is that many drivers are still afraid of being left stranded with an empty battery because charging infrastructure is only slowly developing. One solution to this "range anxiety" is the plug-in hybrid. Vehicles equipped with the 8-Speed Plug-In Hybrid Transmission can drive up to 120 km purely electrically - depending on the manufacturer's battery size. Good to know: A range of just 80 km covers most a family's daily mobility needs. With the 8-Speed Plug-In Hybrid Transmission, 90% of households can in fact drive purely electrically. Electric driving is therefore possible for everyday use, even if the charging infrastructure is not quite there yet. #ZF #emobility #ecofriendly #PHEV #ev #ToMobilityandBeyond

Plug-in hybrids are outdated? Not at all. In many automotive markets, PHEV remain a viable step towards e-mobility. The number of PHEV registrations is rising steadily - in Germany, it increased almost 14% between January and June 2024 compared to the same period last year. And #ZF has the right solution for this trend: the 8-Speed Plug-In Hybrid Transmission. No wonder: it has a fully integrated, highly powerful electric drive that develops a remarkable 450 Newton meters of torque. And it still allows for up to 120 km of electric range (depending on the battery used by the manufacturer). Purely electric mobility with comfort and driving pleasure, without range anxiety. #ToMobilityandBeyond #emobility #ecofriendly #PHEV #ev

Analysts agree: the Chinese market for EVs will only continue to grow, thanks in part to the vast spectrum of manufacturers and vehicle types. With so many options available, how can OEMs determine the right technology for their lineup? ZF might make that decision easier than expected. From the ground up, our electric motor was designed to adapt to key markets and customer demands. It can be coupled with a 400 V or 800 V architecture and installed in a compact car, luxury sedan, or crossover, catering to efficiency, performance, or economy. On that, we can agree. #ElectricMobility #ElectricDrivetrain #ElectricVehicles #ChineseOEM
