erarbeiten – allerdings empfehle ich nicht, die Harfe auto-didaktisch zu erlernen, weil sich leicht
Haltungsfehler einschleichen können. Diese können zu Lernschwierigkeiten und Schmerzen
führen. Wenn aber deine Lehrkra! gerade wohlverdienten Urlaub macht, kannst du dir dieses
He! nehmen, deine Harfe schnappen und loslegen! Viel Spaß!
I introduced these nine easy pieces to my students during their first few months of harp lessons. I’d
started teaching outdoors due to the pandemic and this is something I’ll continue doing. The titles of
my pieces were inspired by the surroundings.
I have included the same finger placings and comments that I used during my lessons. Fingerings
aren’t notated throughout. This means finger placings follow the same pattern until otherwise
noted. While this means the book is suitable for self-taught players, I don’t recommend learning the
harp all on your own – please have a professional harp teacher help you with developing a healthy
and efficient technique. But in between lessons: pick up your harp and get started! Have fun!

In diesem Stück lernst du, verschiedene Intervalle zu greifen. Üblicherweise grei! man die Terz
und die Quint mit dem 1. und 2. Finger und die Quarte und Sexte mit dem 1. und 3. Finger.
Different intervals are played with different fingers. Usually, thirds and fourths are played with the
1st and 2nd finger, fi#hs and sixths with the 1st and 3rd.
Die linke Hand spielt bis auf eine Ausnahme in Takt 15 immer mit dem 3. und 1. Finger.
The le# hand uses the 3rd and 1st finger throughout the piece with one exception in bar 15.
In der rechten Hand ist immer schon der nächste Finger an den Saiten, wenn der vorherige
abspielt – außer dem letzten Ton jedes Taktes. Achte darauf, dass du diesen nicht an den
nächsten Takt anbindest, sondern kurz die Hand weg nimmst und den Daumen schön abspielst.
Markiert wird dies in diesem He! mit dem Zeichen V.
The melody in the right hand has to be placed exactly as notated: the next finger is always placed
before the last finger plays – except for the last note in each bar. Make sure you take away your
hands for a split second here. This is marked throughout this book with V.
Deine rechte Hand vollführt eine Wippbewegung. Nimm dies als Möglichkeit, locker zu werden!
Your right hand moves with a swinging motion. This is helpful for loosening up!

In diesem Stück spielst du in beiden Händen immer den selben Griff mit vier Fingern. Eignet
sich prima zum Aufwärmen! Du musst dir eigentlich nur den Anfangston merken (oder bei den
Akkordbezeichnungen spicken). Auch hier ist das Ziel, dass du die Noten gleichmäßig spielen
kannst und dabei der Daumen immer der höchste Punkt bleibt.
This piece gives you the same finger placing in every bar and is perfect for warming up. So you really
only need to memorize the first note (or work it out from the chord symbols). As before, make sure
you can play this piece evenly before adding any “special effects”! Remember to hold your thumb up!
Die letzte Note spielst du wieder mit der linken Hand, das nennt man Übergreifen. Bitte
benutze für den Schlusston den zweiten Finger, nicht den Daumen. So wird er klanglich am
schönsten!
The last note will be played with your le# hand crossing your right hand. Use your second finger for

Achte beim Üben darauf, dass man alle Töne gleichmäßig hört (gleich laut, gleich schnell). Am
effektivsten erreichst du dies, indem du einen anderen Rhythmus spielst. Hier eignen sich zum
Beispiel gut Punktierungen: einmal lang-kurz-lang-kurz und einmal kurz-lang-kurz-lang.
When practicing, ensure that you play the notes evenly. If it still sounds “bumpy”, try using
a diﬀerent rhythm. Use dotted notes, for example: long-short-long-short, then short-long-

If you notice your thumb is not as loud as the other notes, bring it up a bit. If the thumb is

Immer dann, wenn die Melodie nicht nur auf- oder nur abwärts geht, sondern die Richtung
wechselt, bilden wir Fingersatzketten. Die Töne nach dem „Umkehrpunkt“ binden wir an. Das
gibt uns Sicherheit, und die Melodie klingt flüssiger. Es werden immer die Finger der nächsten
Reihe eingesetzt, bevor der letzte Ton der jetzigen Reihe gespielt wurde. Nicht früher, nicht
später. Es werden nur die Finger eingesetzt, die auch tatsächlich spielen.
Replacing your fingers is needed here. This happens when the melody changes direction.
Replacing gives you security and lets the melody sound more fluent. The fingers in the next
grouping are placed just before the last finger in the last grouping is played. Do not replace
non-playing fingers.
Der Übergang vom Viertelteil zum Achtelteil ist 2 schwierig. Zähle die Viertel laut mit, dann
gelingt es dir leichter, das Tempo zu halten. Am besten übst du dann noch mit Metronom.
The tempo change makes coming from the slower part into the eighth-note part challenging. Try
counting loudly to four in order to keep your tempo steady. Then practice with a metronome.

notes. This feels funny at first but you can pick up it quickly.
Dieses Stück baust du am besten von links auf. Spiele am Anfang zunächst Akkorde, indem du
die Töne der Triolen gleichzeitig spielst. (Falls du nicht weißt, was Triolen sind: blättere zum
Zitronenbäumchen zurück). Wenn du die Akkorde sicher greifen kannst, spiele die Töne wie
notiert ab und achte darauf, gleichmäßig zu spielen.
Setze in der linken Hand bei den Triolen durchgehend ein: setze die ersten drei Finger ein,
spiele 3 und 2 ab, und setze dann schon wieder den 3. Finger, bevor du den Daumen spielst.
Spiele nur dort ab, wo eine Viertel oder eine Pause notiert sind.
In this piece, start by practicing the bass line on its own. Instead of playing the triplets as written,
play the three notes in them as chords. (If you don’t know what triplets are, go back to Lil’ Lemon
Tree). Then play as notated and pay extra attention to playing evenly. The le# hand places the
fingers throughout all triplets. Place the 3rd and 2nd finger and thumb, play the 3rd and 2nd, then
place the 3rd just before playing the thumb. Only allow yourself to interrupt the placing at rests or
quarter notes.
In Takt 20 kann die letzte Note der linken Hand bei Belieben mit rechts gespielt werden. So
kann man mit der linken Hand im Pattern bleiben und muss nicht auf den 4. Finger wechseln.
If it suits you, you can play the last note of bar 20 with the right hand. This saves you the trouble of
changing your le# hand pattern from 3-2-1 to 4-3-2-1.

durchlaufenden Rhythmus. Dann erst kümmere dich um die rechte Hand.
The rhythms in this piece are harder than they might seem at first glance. Start with your le# hand.
The bass line has a repetitive rhythm. Move on to your right hand only when your le#-hand
movements are nice and smooth.
In diesem Stück gibt es viele Synkopen. Das heißt, das eine Note nicht auf, sondern vor oder
nach der Zählzeit gespielt wird. In diesem Stück wird sie immer um eine Achtel nach vorn
verschoben. Die Bindebögen signalisieren, dass die Note nicht erneut angespielt wird, sondern
nur einmal klingt.
This piece features a lot of syncopation. Syncopation means that the note is not played on the
strongest beats in the bar but "offbeat" (before or a#er them). In this piece, the note is anticipated
and played an eighth note earlier than expected.The tie is used to indicate that only the first note is
played.
