The Los Angeles Dodgers busy offseason gets busier

The Los Angeles Dodgers have dominated the MLB’s offseason, loading up on talent and spending over $1 billion in free agency. They’ve made the biggest splash signings both domestically and internationally, and locked in one of the biggest trades to boot. They’re not done, either. The Dodgers just agreed to a one-year deal with James Paxton.

To keep up with the busiest team in baseball, here’s a list of all the Dodgers’ moves during the 2023-2024 offseason.

Shohei Ohtani

Former team: Los Angeles Angels

2023 Stats: .304 BA, .412 OBP, .654 SLG, 44 HR, 95 RBI, 20 SB // 10-5, 3.14 ERA, 167 K

Contract: 10 years, $700 million

The Dodgers made Ohtani the highest-paid athlete in North American sports history when they kept him in SoCal in early December. After undergoing successful elbow surgery, the dual-threat talent will only be allowed to hit in 2024.

Yoshinobu Yamamoto

Former team: Orix Buffaloes (NPB)

2023 Stats: 16-6, 1.21 ERA, 169 K

Contract: 12 years, $325 million

Not only did Yamamoto shatter the record for the biggest international contract in MLB history, the Dodgers signed him to the highest pitching contract ever.

Contract: 1 year, $23.5 million

The 31-year-old outfielder is two years removed from his only All-Star season and his first All-MLB Second Team placement.

Contract: 1 year, $9 million

In his first season with the Dodgers, the 33-year-old outfielder played his most games since 2019.

Contract: 1 year, $8 million

At 35, Kelly is coming off his best season in relief by ERA since moving into the bullpen.

2023 Stats: 28 GP, 1-4, 2.78 ERA, 45 K (Minor Leagues)

Contract: 1 year, $900K

Vanasco signed a one-year major league contract with the Dodgers and is set to make his major league debut in 2024.

2023 Stats: 10-7, 3.53 ERA, 162 K

Contract: 5 years, $136.5 million extension

After the Dodgers acquired Glasnow in a trade with the Rays, the Dodgers signed the 30-year-old pitcher to a five-year extension.

Manuel Margot

2023 Stats: .264 BA, .310 OBP, .376 SLG, 4 HR, 38 RBI

Contract: N/A

The Dodgers acquired Margot as part of a trade with the Rays for Tyler Glasnow. The 29-year-old outfielder has a $6 million adjusted salary for 2024 with a mutual option in 2025.

James Paxton

Contract: 1 year, ~$12 million

Paxton, who was up and down with injuries in 2023, had the second-highest ERA of the Rex Sox starting pitchers.
