Final Shots: Joel McHale Set To Portray His Former ‘Community’ Co-Star Chevy Chase In A New Netflix Film

The National Lampoon brand has seen better days, certainly, but not so long ago it provided some of the most fertile ground for American comedians. The 1970s era rise of this former comedy powerhouse will be documented in the upcoming film A Futile and Stupid Gesture, which director David Wain is making for Netflix. Joel McHale (Community) has been tapped as the lead, a role in which he’ll be playing … wait for it … Chevy Chase?!? Yes, his Community co-star Chevy Chase. The same Chevy Chase who is pretty much persona non grata in the comedy community these days, especially with his former sitcom castmates. We anxiously await this performance, which will no doubt feel like a 90-minute long subtweet.
