Twitter is reportedly planning to bolster its live streaming in order to compete with its social media rival, Facebook. The platform, which had live streamed most Thursday Night Football games this past NFL season, has signed yet another sports streaming deal with the National Lacrosse League. According to Engadget, the brand new deal will offer user one game per week as well as playoff games and the Champion Cup series.

Additionally, according to The Information, Twitter is rumored to announce next week that it’s planning to open up its live streaming API to media firms. The new initiative will allow the platform to go live on the website whenever they want to stream content, without going through Periscope. Live streaming deals that had previously required extensive planning and partnership will now be able to move forward with ease.
