Showtime Releases Trailer For Its Benedict Cumberbatch-Led Miniseries, ‘Patrick Melrose’

Get ready to see Benedict Cumberbatch like you’ve never seen him before. Showtime has released the trailer for its upcoming miniseries, Patrick Melrose. Based on the books of the same name and starring Cumberbatch and Allison Williams, the five-part series is set to premiere later this year.

Patrick Melrose is an adaption of Edward St. Aubyn’s semi-autobiographical novel series. The show seeks to humorously explore the problems of the upper class while telling the story of how one man can recover from his deeply traumatic childhood and history of substance abuse. The saga will span everything from the South of France in the 1960s to Britain in the 2000s, and each of the series’ five episodes will be devoted to a different Patrick Melrose novel.

Cumberbatch plays the titular character, and Jennifer Jason Leigh (The Hateful Eight) and Hugo Weaving (The Matrix trilogy) star as Patrick’s parents. Also joining the cast are Anna Madeley (The Crown), Blythe Danner (Meet the Fockers), Pip Torrens (The Crown), Jessica Raine (Call the Midwife), Prasanna Puwanarajah (Doctor Foster), Holliday Grainger (Bonnie & Clyde), Indira Varma (Game of Thrones), and Celia Imrie (Bridget Jones’s Baby). The series is executive produced by Michael Jackson and Rachael Horovitz (Moneyball, Grey Gardens). The miniseries will be a co-production between Showtime and Sky Atlantic.
