Here’s How To Stream The 51 Minutes Of The Olympics Closing Ceremony NBC Cut

Another Olympics, another chance to criticize NBC’s odd streaming choices. Some have praised NBC’s coverage of the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, but unfortunately that didn’t stop the final ceremony from getting cut substantially. According to Deadspin’s Timothy Burke, NBC cut 51 minutes of the closing ceremony in editing, which translates to about 40 percent of the whole show. Thankfully, there’s an easy way to watch the rest of the closing ceremony.

So what exactly did NBC edit out of its broadcast of the event last night? Burke’s article has a full highlight reel of everything the network missed, but there seem to be five major things that NBC’s broadcast edited out. First up is the official Olympics highlight reel, something that should be delightful to viewers of all nationalities. The broadcast also didn’t show the medal ceremonies for the ski marathon, an event that typically closes out the Olympics, or the Volunteer Recognition Ceremony. The latter event isn’t the most exciting moment in the games, but it’s nice to recognize all the people who make these events possible. Additionally, NBC’s broadcast didn’t air the speeches made by Hee-Beom Lee and Thomas Bach.

However, the biggest event that viewers missed last night was the full version of the final fireworks and lights show. The broadcast showed DJ Martin Garrix’s performance, but it cut Korean DJ Raiden’s set.

But there’s good news for all of the Olympics completists out there. The full closing ceremony is currently available to watch on NBC’s site. Check it out below.
