You might know her onscreen as the attention-seeking, posh princess Tahani on NBC’s The Good Place, but off-screen this actress couldn’t be any more different. Sit back and relax, because it’s time to celebrate this week’s Woman Crush Wednesday, Jameela Jamil.

WHO’S THAT GAL: Jameela Jamil

WHY WE’RE CRUSHING: Jameela Jamil is no stranger to insecurities. But instead of letting them consume her, she chooses to celebrate all the qualities that make her an awesome human and we’re totally in love with it.

During her time off from shooting The Good Place, Jameela stumbled upon an Instagram account dedicated to the Kardashians’ weights. After clicking through comments from women of all ages insecure about their own weight, Jameela decided to create an awareness campaign called “I Weigh.” The campaign exists solely on Instagram and consists of daily submissions from real women (and men!) who are proud of their quirks.

Jameela’s use of the phrase “I weigh” doesn’t refer to the pounds she carries, but all the things in her life that “weigh” more than a number on a scale. Fans have responded with her own versions, highlighting everything from the unconditional love for their families, surviving eating disorders, and everything in between. Since Jameela launched I Weigh in March, the campaign has reached over 25.5K followers with over 600 photos of supporters celebrating their value beyond skin and bones.

WHERE YOU’VE SEEN HER BEFORE: Believe it or not, Jameela’s first acting role is actually Tahani. She admits to having no acting experience except for the one line she had in her primary school’s production of Oliver. Before her acting debut, Jameela had a career as a radio and TV presenter on the U.K.’s E4 Music Zone and the British morning program Freshly Squeezed. She’s clearly a woman of many talents, having modeled for huge publications such as U.K. Vogue and InStyle and has written a monthly column for Company magazine. Oh, and you’ll never believe this, but Jameela is also a DJ. Yeah, you read that right. In 2015, she created “Why Not People?” a U.K. club dedicated to hosting accessible live gigs for people with disabilities and their “mates.”

WHERE YOU’LL SEE HER AGAIN: Don’t worry because Jameela Jamil is not going anywhere just yet. Later this year, Jameela will returning as Tahani Al-Jamil in season 3 of The Good Place. But until then, I highly recommend following her on Twitter and Instagram.
