Forget the Guns N Roses tribute or the flaming motorcycle. The craziest part of the latest Westworld Season 3 trailer was seeing a dude who looked an awful lot like Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch marching behind Breaking Bad alum Aaron Paul. Could that have really been Marshawn Lynch? Is the NFL star expanding his portfolio to dystopian dustups? What the heck is happening in that new Westworld trailer?!?!

Yes, that was Marshawn Lynch walking with Aaron Paul and Lena Waithe in HBO’s latest Westworld teaser. In fact, we’ve known for a while that the football star would appear in the series, but we now have a little bit more confirmation about his role. According to ESPN, an HBO spokesperson shared that Lynch would have a “fun and pretty substantial role” in the upcoming season of Westworld.

However, it’s not the first glimpse we’ve gotten of Lynch in Westworld Season 3. The Seattle Seahawks running back was featured in a similar scene — that makes it look like Dolores (Evan Rachel Wood) is leading him and his friends, and a prisoner — in the July 2019 San Diego Comic-Con Trailer. And his first “canonical” Westworld campaign appearance came in a May 2019 ad narrated by Aaron Paul’s new character. In that clip, we see Paul, Lynch, and Waithe pull off what seems to be some sort of heist. Lynch is sporting the same “BORED” tee in each scene, suggesting all three clips might be part of a larger sequence (or were reshot).

Naturally, there’s little we know officially about the plot of Westworld Season 3 beyond the fact that it will follow the hosts formerly known (or still known?) as Dolores Abernathy, Charlotte Hale (Tessa Thompson), Bernard Lowe (Jeffrey Wright), and Ashley Stubbs (Luke Hemsworth) have successfully escaped the park and set up shop in the real world. In Season 3, it appears that group teams up with Aaron Paul and his rebellious pals for some sort of insurrection. However, on the opposite end of the game board, it looks like a new character played by Vincent Cassel will be recruiting Maeve (Thandie Newton) to stop them.

Westworld Season 3 premieres on HBO on Sunday, March 15, 2020.
