Joey Chestnut may be able to put down 75 hot dogs in 10 minutes, but almost a week after the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest, he’s still paying the price for excellence. On Thursday night, the competitive eater sat down (gingerly, as it were) with Showtime’s Desus & Mero, and he was finally asked the question the entire world has been wondering for years: “Does your asshole hate you?” It should surprise no one to learn that Chestnut’s butthole does, in fact, hate him.

For years, Chestnut has dominated his competitors at Nathan’s July Fourth hot dog eating contest, but this year he kicked things up a notch. Chestnut, who adopted the nickname “Glizzy Gladiator” for this year’s contest, bested his own record by gobbling 75 hot dogs, a feat that earned him his thirteenth Mustard Yellow Belt.

Chestnut has spent the past week sleeping off the wieners and buns, but last night, he finally felt well enough to make an appearance on late night show Desus & Mero. “Bro, how the fuck do you do that?” asked The Kid Mero of his guest’s hot dog eating prowess. “I’ll eat five hot dogs and I’ve got to lay down for 10 hours, at least.”

The professional eater said that he’s built up “a tolerance” for eating competitions. “My first contest, I did like 20, and I felt like, super full,” said Chestnut. “And now when I do 70, I feel the same way.”

Tolerance or not, Chestnut is still feeling the event’s effects. When asked how his butthole is holding up, the Glizzy Gladiator said that “most of [his] body” is wrecked. “The last couple days have been rough,” he told Desus and Mero. “[But] I love it. I feel like garbage, and the next day I feel better, and the next day — like, today I’m starting to feel pretty damn good.” Phew!

Chestnut concluded his delightful Desus & Mero interview with an in-depth analysis of various hot dog eaters, including President Obama, President Trump, and (non-president) Mike Bloomberg. The Nathan’s champ gave the edge to Obama, who managed to down a chili dog while wearing a suit. “He’s taking it,” Chestnut said of Obama’s wide-mouth method. “He’s got extra room. He could get bigger.”

Watch Joey Chestnut sound off on his butthole, Trump’s mustard-heavy eating style, and more in the clip above.
